Director, IMT Ghaziabad Dear IMTians The biggest mark of any school lies in the value its graduates create in their respec ve fields. IMT alumni have dis nguished themselves in all aspects of business and leadership across the world. They have also co-created the value IMT delivers to the world by building an ecosystem of mutual collabora on. It is me to further strengthen this ecosystem. We are crea ng new avenues for the alumni to get involved in our agenda of grooming future leaders – developing cases, crea ng assets for Execu ve Educa on, teaching in industry specific domains, and mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs are just a few of them. I am more than 100% sure that your partnership with your alma mater in this important process of co-crea ng intellectual capital and grooming leadership would go a long way Dr. A sh Cha opadhyay in posi oning IMT as a new-age management school while retaining the rich legacy. I would like to congratulate the IMT Alumni Community for its significant contribu on towards building the brand IMT and wish you and your families the best in all your future endeavours.

Dean - Executive Education, IMT Ghaziabad Dear Alumni, It is my pleasure to inform that I have recently joined your esteemed alma mater as Dean of Execu ve Educa on and External Rela ons. One of the most important tasks assigned to me is to ac vely engage with the alumni of one of the most pres gious business schools in the country, which I consider as my proud privilege. In the very brief me I have spent at IMT Ghaziabad, I am able to sense tremendous enthusiasm and a renewed sense of purpose among the faculty, staff and students following the significant changes that are taking place in all facets of the ins tute. The primary focus of my brief message is to inform you of the various developments, which I am sure will be of interest to all of you. One of the notable changes that has taken place a er the Director, Dr. A sh Cha opadhyay, has assumed charge has been the revamping of the curriculum architecture of the Two-Year PGDM program. I would like to highlight just a few of them here. The new architecture mirrors the various facets of IMT Ghaziabad's Vision of developing students who are entrepreneurial, conscious of their responsibility to the society, especially the underprivileged, and who are capable of finding innova ve solu ons to challenges faced by businesses and society at large. To transform the vision to realty, courses on sustainability and social responsibility, domain specialisa on in entrepreneurship, compulsory entrepreneurial immersion for all the students, workshops on design thinking, organisa on based projects have been included in the curriculum. To support this major ini a ve, senior academicians and industry veterans have been invited to join the faculty body. Similarly, the curriculum of both PGDM (Part-Time) and PGDM-Execu ve are being reviewed to bring in changes that are in tune with current business impera ves. I am also happy to inform you that a Centre for Banking Studies with a senior banking professional as chairperson has been launched under the aegis of IMT Ghaziabad to cater to the training needs of banking professionals. The centre will be conduc ng its first MDP on IND AS during October 20-21, 2016. The ins tute is also working closely with various organisa ons to offer customised and open MDPs to cater to their training needs. There are several other ini a ves that are on the anvil that are sure to provide the required impetus to propel your alma mater in a rapid growth trajectory. I will be happy to share informa on on these ini a ves and other developments with you from me to me.

Director, IMT Nagpur Dear IMT Alumni, I am immensely pleased to be associated with Pan-IMT Alumni Associa on. This is absolutely a mely step taken by IMT alumni of various campuses. Crea ng a network of alumni across the corporate houses has been the key winning formula for leading B-Schools in establishing and strengthening their brand worldwide. An ac ve collabora on between the Ins tute and its alumni is paramount in crea ng this network. I have a strong belief that the ini a ves taken so far by the IMT Alumni Associa on will surely help take the IMT brand a few notch up in the very near future. I look forward to be a party to more of such ac on oriented ini a ves by the Associa on. I assure all support to all future endeavours. I wish all the best to alumni of all IMT campuses.

Dr. Subhajit Bha acharyya

Director, IMT Hyderabad Long ago I learnt the theory advocated by Charles Darwin that is: the species that adapts itself to change the fastest, will survive. Organiza ons that want to survive in diďŹƒcult me need leaders. And IMT alumni are leaders that lead the way to change. I am always eager whenever I get an opportunity to see how the educa on and life experiences gained by the students, while at a business school, has assisted them in their endeavours since they graduated. 'Sampark' is an enabler to get reacquainted with the community from which we come. Three and a half decades ago, IMT made a beginning. Today, IMT alumni cover the globe in their search for knowledge and their contribu ons make a signiďŹ cant impact wherever they work. As alumni who truly love and faithfully support this great ins tu on, I am sure you share my pride in what we are doing and where we plan to go. As we grow year over year, our ambi on to be amongst the leading business schools na onally as well as globally is Dr. Sa sh Ailawadi further proven in strength, numbers and results. IMT has and will con nue to have a big impact on society and that our ambi on connects us all and resonates into the future. Each alumnus holds in his or her hand, the power to push IMT forward. Your pride makes IMT shine. Your involvement makes IMT grow. Your contribu ons make IMT strong. Together we keep IMT spirit alive so that the new genera ons of students can follow your footsteps. How do we keep IMT spirit alive? By remembering why you chose IMT. And new students will make the same choice. Choosing IMT is choosing to be part of a community of Leaders of Change.

Faculty Coordinator, IMT Ghaziabad At IMT-Ghaziabad, Alumni Rela ons has been at the fore-front of its 36 years of legacy of excellence. All ac vi es pertaining to the other stake-holders namely, the faculty and student have the alumni as the key fulcrum. We are indeed thankful to our alumni for their valuable contribu on towards the recent AACSB accredita on as well as placements. Personally for me as faculty co-ordinator, it has been a great learning experience to lead a vivacious Alumni Rela ons Team and interact with the alumni fraternity. At Alumni Rela onship Commi ee, our endeavour has been con nuously to engage, build and nurture these rela onships with the alumni to create mutually beneďŹ cial footprints for the ins tute and the alumni.

Prof. Lipi Das

President, IMT Alumni Association One thing that no one can ever doubt is the signiďŹ cant role played by the Alumni community towards the brand building of any community. The Alumni community is one of the strongest pillars that lays the founda on of any ins tute's success and through their constant support and contribu on, both in their corporate careers and through ins tu onal ac vi es, the community contributes towards building their own brand. It is the emo onal connect that the community has with the ins tute which propels them to return back to the ins tute that not only gave them a world class management educa on but also shaped their lives in more ways than one can imagine. In a fast paced world which is on the go 24x7, Alumni rela ons is one Mr. Debashis Das such forum which suggests to 'Take a look back,' rebuild and relive the joys of togetherness. This is one forum where you dont need be a cri c, but a supporter and contributor towards ini a ves undertaken for the common good of a community backed by the most posi ve intent. Jumping on the bandwagon of 'New Beginnings', the IMT Alumni Associa on - a registered body that works for the welfare of the Alumni Network, in its endeavor to con nue the partnership with the ins tute towards building brand IMT, has launched a new logo which resonates around the core #IMTianForLife philosophy and derives its parentage from the IMT brand logo. Hope you like it and con nue to be a part of the Alumni ac vi es.

Alumni Speaks The Connect that Matters As I bid farewell to my campus, I think of how it all started. Sending me to IMT was a tough task. Ask my mother. I didn't want to stop earning and start learning. But IMT has been one of the best decisions of my life. The Art of Living sessions gave me my friends. The sleepless nights at the ALCOM oďŹƒce gave me the honor of mee ng some great alumni. Sportscom gave me a reason to get up and get going every few months! Culcom managed to make me walk on the ramp again. Smiles and Tears. I had it all. Assignments, projects, quiz passwords, a endance problems, sleeping in class, end terms.. well that also went on side by side. Crazy par es, crazier friends, craziest nights! IMT is one place, which holds the legacy of not only brilliance and excellence but also partying! IMT teaches you what no other B-School can; BALANCE OF LIFE. This keeps us mo vated to go on even when the winds are against us. So cheers to all the IMTians who were, who are and who will be! Stay in touch, a er all, 'this is one connect that ma ers.' - Vidisha Sharma(Batch of 2014)

The writedowns in valua ons and layoffs are inevitable, as many of the smaller players will get acquired or consolidated, with three to four big and efficient players remaining in every business area. Therefore, in the near future, few start-up will succeed and become global brands like Infosys or Airtel. Till then, it is a me of consolida on and exits. -Sourabh Bakshi Batch of 2013 Solu on Advisor, Deloi e Advisory

India is a big market with many challenges such as transparency, a c c o u n t a b i l i t y, e t c . S e r i o u s entrepreneurs are needed, who will form a team with a long-term vision to solve one problem at a me. The bubble is ephemeral. The problems are large and deeply rooted. It will take many years for someone to understand one problem and create solu ons. There may be start-ups with a good vision and who have been working on it for long. They may be unheard of,

because they did not chase valua on, but crea ng value. It's high me, with low risk in a rapidly forming ecosystem. Only teams with the right vision and passion will survive and create strongcompanies with a strong founda on, which will deliver the strong results and make money in the process. It's not a bubble. It is a part of the evolu on of start-ups. In the end, only the best team with the best solu on will survive. -Ashutosh Burnwal Batch of 2012 Founder & CEO, BuddyStudy

The lessons of history teach us that the world of business, finance & economics is inherently cyclical, alternately experiencing boom and bust phases. Start-ups in India have sprung up le and right in the last few years, funded by cheap liquidity, that is chasing yield and growth in a global economy, characterized by low interest rates and anaemic growth. This euphoria has led to most startups commanding exorbitant valua ons u erly out of sync with financial reality, haemorrhaging cash in an ill-advised endeavour to grab market share at any cost. With so many companies in the fray, compe ve pressure makes it difficult for any one player to achieve the scale they desire to be profitable, or avoid irra onal price wars within a segment. The outcome will be determined bythe companies which have the investors w i t h t h e d e e p e s t p o c ke t s , t o withstand a long ba le of a ri on. Many companies will eventually

Too many start-up have emerged in the last two to three years, thanks to a lot of investors who wanted to be a part of this lucra ve mad race and make the most of it. Unfortunately, a lot of them have shut down as well, mostly due to a lack of investor trust for the long term, or a “me too” concept which could not create a USP compared to the established players, with the likes of Peppertap, Taxi For Sure, Zovi, Go Javas, Ask Me Bazaar and many others, surprising the market by total shutdown or takeover and some others such as Zomato, Grofers, Housing.com and others laying off employees. Most of the start-ups today, are burning huge cash to acquire customers, increase number of transac ons leading to inflated valua ons. The other set of start-ups launch themselves with the ul mate goal of ge ng acquired. I believe that the real bubble is “valua ons” and it has started to burst at a rapid pace. Investors have started to grow insecure, and are beginning to a s k a b o u t t h e m o st i m p o r ta nt parameter: profit, for which a lot of start-up only have a long-term vision to share, but no immediate respite. It's about me that start-ups design the right strategy for a profitable model, otherwwise the next two years are going to be disastrous for the startup founders and their employees. -Vishesh Chadha Batch of 2009 Founder , The Learning World
