MEET THE TEAM ABOUT US KIM HERFINDAHL Operations Manager

I have been the Operations Manager with Community Education for 5 years now, but I have been part of District #241 all my life. My husband, my 3 sons and myself all graduated from Albert Lea school district. The formal days of education are almost past and we are in different phases of life. However, it is exciting to know that when time allows, we live in a community that offers numerous opportunities for us to continue to gather, discover and grow. Lifelong learning and doing will always be a part of our family.

AUDREA HOREJSI, Creative Instructor I have taught craft classes to elementary children in the past in various communities. I have also planned and lead classes at my church during lent and advent season. I was a girl scout troop leader when my children were younger and led 24 girls aged K-5 grade. I feel creativity gives a person/a child a voice through their art and also believe children need a place they can congregate with peers on a regular basis besides the classroom.

JADE O’BYRNE, Hair Styling Instructor I have been doing hair now for about 11 years! I have 2 beautiful children, 1 of which has crazy curly unruly hair and the other has the worst cowlicks you have ever seen! The struggle is real sometimes but we normally can conquer it with a simple top knot or pig tails or my son gets a mohawk because well that’s all that works. Lets have some fun and learn a couple fun easy styles together! Please let me know if you have something you want to learn or any questions you have! I am here to help!

TESS GEORGAKOPOULOS, Cooking Instructor Tess Georgakopoulos, a skilled, well-seasoned home-cook and Community Education Instructor, is proposing a number of Instant Pot, Classical Cooking Classes for community education in numerous districts in and around the Twin Cities area for the fall 2021 season. Tess has successfully worked with over 30 public school districts to date and she is happy to say her collaboration and partnership with public school districts continues to grow. Wayzata, Minnetonka, Mounds View, ISD 728, Anoka Hennepin, Alexandria, Brainerd, Stillwater, and Winona are but a few! She aspires to build culinary confidence in all who participate in her classes.

MIKE WILSON, Computer Instructor Computer Instructor and author Mike Wilson’s passion has been helping 1000’s of adults and seniors learn computers in over 40 cities in 17 years. He has taught at colleges, workforce and development, community education centers, Parks and Recs, libraries, and many senior centers. Mike gets overwhelming excellent comments about his unique style of teaching, which is basically simplistic. He takes even the advanced things and breaks them down so students can understand them. His goal is for “no student to be left behind” and he ranks extremely high in trying to fulfill that goal. Mike instructs students virtually from the privacy of their own homes! His live sessions are great for dabblers, tinkerers, and those who have recently bought a computer for personal or business use.
