Neil Douglas THE TRANQUIL CHAOS

THE TRANQUIL CHAOS Boodles and Albemarle Gallery in collaboration with Champagne ThiĂŠnot are proud to present The Tranquil Chaos the triptych created by Neil Douglas for the Boodles flagship-store in Bond Street.

Following the exhibition titled So it Goes held at the Albemarle Gallery in 2015, I have had the opportunity to create the triptych The Tranquil Chaos in collaboration with Boodles. My paintings are the concluding results of a search for a glimpse of beauty and a sense of peace against the frenetic pace and backdrop of the city. The renewal of the seasons is often featured, contrasted against the deterioration of the man-made urban fabric. They are an attempt to capture an image, an experience or simply a memory against the passing of time. I have been inspired by the commitment to craftsmanship and design exemplified by the collections of exquisite jewels that Boodles is famed for. Working within the history and traditions of our chosen mediums, the works are linked by an alchemistic pursuit of beauty. The size and scale of the painting illustrate the desire to produce a site-specific artwork where all the elements combine in interacting within their surroundings, in this case the Boodles flagship store.
