WORLD-CLASS INFRASTRUCTURE Hero MotoCorp two-wheelers are manufactured in four globally benchmarked manufacturing facilities, two of which are based in the northern Indian state of Haryana – at Dharuhera and Gurgaon – and a third stateof-the-art manufacturing facility in Haridwar, in the hill state of Uttrakhand. The plant at Neemrana in the northern state of Rajasthan is aptly called the “Garden Factory,” an epitome of environment-friendly manufacturing. A new manufacturing facility is coming up at Halol in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
R O B U S T G LO B A L I Z AT I O N S T R AT E G Y Over the past few years, Hero MotoCorp has rapidly augmented its global presence to 33 countries across Asia, Africa, Central and South America. In September of last year, Hero MotoCorp commenced operations at its first overseas manufacturing facility in Colombia, thereby becoming the first Indian two-wheeler company to set up a manufacturing plant in Latin America. The new facility is spread over 17 acres of land at Villa Rica in the state of Cauca – about 500 kilometers southwest of Bogota. The initial production capacity of the plant is 80,000 units per annum, which will later be expanded to 150,000 units. The new plant will also act as an export hub for the Andean countries. Hero MotoCorp’s second global manufacturing facility is coming up in Bangladesh, and is expected to be operational toward the end of this year. Continued on page 31
