Rotary Club of Shrewsbury GUEST SPEAKER – Phil Holt
Phil Holt with Rotary Club of Shrewsbury President John Siviter At the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury luncheon on 2 March 2016 our speaker was Philip Holt of Holt Hearing and Balance who told us about advancements in the assessment and management of hearing, tinnitus and balance disorders. After outlining his personal career and explaining his present functions, he went on to describe how the ear works, with the aid of some excellent diagrams and a very clear and lucid speaking style. He covered many aspects of his work, including improved testing methods for hearing loss in very young babies, how adult hearing aids have shrunk in size, new aspects of teaching the brain to ignore tinnitus and how good balance can be restored by a combination of managing eyes, ear and brain. Phil was a very good speaker who left me with the message that there is hope for all of us ... and, please do not use cotton buds in my ears! www.holthearingandbalance.co.uk
