Rotary Club of Shrewsbury GUEST SPEAKER – David Dixon

Rotarian David Dixon with President Pat McLaughlin At the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury luncheon meeting on 19 October 2016, our speaker was Rtn David Dixon (RC Ironbridge) from Confident Children out of Conflict. A strange title for yet another worthy cause. Sudan has had civil wars for many years but our speaker was confident it would end at some point in the future and this new venture aims at trying to ensure that the many children, homeless and uneducated, and in some cases abused, will at least be able to read and write when that time comes so that they can play their part in the rebuilding of the country. Already they have a sanctuary/school in Juba which takes about 30/40 but much more is needed. A side effect of this project would be to stem the flow of emigrants leaving the country and causing such a problem for Europe at the present time. This new charity is certainly worthy of support (as are so many others) and we give them our very best wishes for success in their venture.
