Local NHS trust supports World Breastfeeding Week at Knowsley Safari Families from across Merseyside joined staff from North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, to celebrate and promote breastfeeding, as part of World Breastfeeding Week. To raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding and the need for global support, World Breastfeeding Week is held every year, and is celebrated in 120 countries. To mark this occasion, on Friday 3 August at 10:30am, thousands of breastfeeding women and their babies/children across the world gathered in their own communities to take part in the Global Big Latch On, a synchronised breastfeeding event in multiple locations. The Trust, in partnership with Merseyside Breastfeeding Consortium, held their local Big Latch On at Knowsley Safari. The event was well attended and it’s hoped that this year the current Global Big Latch

Pippa Caldwell, infant feeding co-ordinator at North West Boroughs said: “We are delighted to be hosting these events with our Consortium Partners. The events highlight the amazing work our services provide to support mothers and babies. “We love to celebrate the achievements of our breastfeeding families and we’re so pleased so many past and present breastfeeding families have joined us to take part in this worldwide event.” Amy, who attended the Big Latch On event at Knowsley Safari said: “I can see the benefits in the baby already, he’s never even been to the doctors apart from his
