Wetumpka Tea Party "TOP-THREE" U.S. Senate Candidate Forum

August 2017

The Alabama Gazette Publishing LLC, 12 E. Jefferson Street, Montgomery, AL 36104

Becky Garrison, Co-Founder and President of the Wetumpka Tea Party, welcomed the crowd at the Wetumpka Civic Center. A large crowd attended the Wetumpka Tea Party “Top-Three” U.S. Senate Forum held on Monday evening, July 31st at the Wetumpka Civic Center. Dan Morris, a radio talk show host in Montgomery, served as moderator of the event which lasted approximately 90 minutes. Garrison stated, “Dozens of forums have been held across Alabama for the ten Republican Senate candidates running for the August 15th special election. Our Forum focuses on the “Top-Three” candidates for three reasons”: Polling: Representative Brooks, Judge Moore, and Senator Strange are the only candidates polling over 20%. The next closest candidate is barely at 5%. The reality is that it would

be a miracle for anyone other than these three to win outright or get enough for a run-off. This is why they are our focus. More Time To Hear Policy Positions: This forum is designed for the candidates to be able to expound on their policy positions and their past experiences serving Alabamians with more than just one minute answers. We believe you will walk away having a better understanding of their beliefs and their solutions to the complex issues facing our nation. Respect For Your Time: We always respect our audiences’ time and we end our meetings by 8:00 pm. It would be impossible to hold a forum that allowed for detailed ansers for 10 candidate and remain within our time limits. This event is for educational purposes and is not an endorsement of any candidate.

Dan Morris, a radio talk show host in Montgomery, served as moderator of the Wetumpka Tea Party’s “Top-Three” U. S. Senate Forum held Monday, July 31st.

“We want to have more meat to the discussion, more in-deth answers and cover more topics,” Garrison said. “You can’t do that with nine candidates.” Candidate Randy Brinson, a Montgomery physician who is on leave as president of the Christian coalition of Alabama, said he should have been allowed to participate. “I think this entire thing that the Tea Party put on tonight was rigged, the reason being that they didn’t want me to debate because I have real answers on health care, job growth, real answers on what Alabama needs to grow and not be in the bottom of every category,” Brinson said. Issues discussed were tough and the crowd was there to intently examine the views of these candidates. Decisions are grave in our country at this time and this U.S. Senate seat can make a real difference in our great country for decades to come.

Elmore County Women Journey to Israel Continued from page 1D

to women in crisis.

3

Three women left Elmore County on June 6 for a 15-day mission – to minister in the Israeli cities of Kfar Saba, Herzliya, and Tel Aviv. They were there to seek out women in prostitution, homelessness, drug addiction, and those suffering the effects of abortion. Laura Taylor and Anna Hines from the Elmore County Pregnancy Center (ECPC) and Traci Martin of Isaiah 58 ministries traveled to Israel to continue work as important to them as their work here at home, sharing God’s grace and love

Traci Martin became involved in this ministry in 2014. “When God led me to this ministry it was an instant match because of my call to be a voice for the voiceless." Anna went to Israel for the first time with her church in 2016 and then returned this year to serve with Abundant Life ministries. Laura's first time to Israel was this year. These ladies went under the umbrella of Isaiah 58 ministries based out of Wetumpka, to partner with Abundant Life ministries in Israel. Both ministries reach out to women in crisis with the love of Christ.

The Abundant Life Center (Chaim Beshefa in Hebrew) is a non-profit organization fighting for the protection of the mother and for the protection of the baby in her womb. The volunteers go out into the streets and heavily populated public areas such as malls and markets to hand out pamphlets with the ministry founder’s testimony of her abortion and pamphlets with the truth of life at conception. The point is to provide the ministry's 24 hour hotline number for women in crisis pregnancy and those who are seeking healing from the mental and spiritual effects of having an abortion. The volunteers will go to their homes or meet the women where they can minister to them on a deeper level. They will travel hours to meet these women if necessary. If a woman is in financial trouble, they help her with food, maternity clothes and after they give birth, they help with baby supplies. The ministry also offers Healing Seminars for women suffering from the physical, spiritual and emotional effects of abortion.

Many pregnant women want to choose life for their unborn baby but feel this is their only choice and many experience pressure from outside sources to make this decision. The Israeli Defense Force offers women two free abortions during their mandatory service time. There is a great need for the truth about the sanctity of life to be revealed in this land.

The ECPC women also shared about an arm of the Abundant Life outreach called the “Red Carpet Center.” This center is located in the Red Light district of Tel Aviv. There women in prostitution, addicts and the homeless can rest and receive a hot shower, warm meals, haircuts, clean clothes, manicures and pedicures, and massage. Thru all of these grace gifts the staff and volunteers hope that these women will see the love of Christ and the gift of a new life that He offers them. Because they’ve experienced so much physical and sexual abuse, the Center offers them “positive touch” for the first time to show them God's kindness and love for them, no matter what they’ve done. Again, their hope is that they will find freedom in Christ and experience new life.

“What I saw taking place at the Red Carpet Center was beautiful." said Anna Hines. "Hebrews 12:15 says, 'See to it that no one falls short of the Grace of God...' What I saw taking place there was women from all nations, young and old, making sure that these ladies didn't fall short of the grace of God!" She went on to say that, "We are just broken women who have found the Healer helping other broken women to find Him. Grace can be defined as God's love in action towards men who merited the opposite of love. That's all of us. None of us deserve this amazing Grace of His and all of us desperately need it. We are all on the same level at the foot of the cross,” she added. "God is showing His love in action every week thru the staff and volunteers at the Red Carpet Center and I was humbled to be able to witness and be a part of that."

Amos They met a man named Amos while ministering at the Center. Amos is a carpenter with a shop a few doors down from the Red Carpet Center. Amos is an atheist. “The Lord allowed us to have quite a few conversations with him. He couldn't understand why we had flown from the other side of the world to sit in a filthy alley way with heroin needles and sex paraphernalia strewn about to minister to drug addicts and prostitutes. We had a chance to share with him about the grace of God and told him that we knew a very special Jewish Carpenter as well and that in Him life is found.” said Anna.

Tatianna Israel is home to many sex trafficked women, many of whom are from Russia. This is where Traci met Tatianna, a hard 50-year-old woman who had been trafficked and "thrown away" by her trafficker after being used for his purposes. Traci met her in a soup kitchen where she was loud and mean when Traci addressed her when she tried to speak to her on several occasions. They met each time Traci returned to Israel and Tatianna finally broke from the love and kindness Christ showed to her thru Traci. Traci learned that the Center had tried, with the help of many, to get her back home to Russia but her family is unable to accept her back.

Inbal, Founder of Abundant Life ministries Inbal, or Anat, was serving in the Israeli Defense Force when she found herself in crisis. She learned her father had died of a stroke and that she was pregnant at the same time. She wasn’t ready for a child but sometimes enjoyed the idea of a new life inside her. However, she like so many pregnant women, stifled those maternal feelings and allowed no other option other than to abort the baby. After the abortion, she immediately regretted her choice and felt dead inside since she had taken the life of her child. Inbal was not aware of the mental outcomes of abortion like depression, guilt, self-destructive tendencies, suicide, and great anger. She couldn’t handle any of the after effects of what she had done, so she left her military unit in Tel Aviv and sealed herself off to the outside world. As years went by, she learned the physical consequences of abortion: infertility, miscarriages, elevated risk of breast cancer and cervical incontinence which can lead to spontaneous pregnancy loss. Today Inbal is not only the founder of this ministry but also a counselor for women in the crisis of an unwanted pregnancy. In her 15 years of work she has met a great many women who have regretted their abortions due to the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional difficulties that have left scars on their lives. She continues to be available to these troubled women on a 24-hour basis every day of the year.

Healing Received When Traci left the States with Meniere’s disease, a condition that causes dizziness and nausea and requires several medications every day, she never dreamed that she would return in a completely different way – completely healed. She explained, “Late on the night of June 16th I asked God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and I was prayed over for healing of my Meniere’s disease. The next morning when it was time to take my daily medication God brought to mind His word in Mark 5:34, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your disease.’ I believed that I had been healed and in faith did not take my medication. Usually I kept my three other medications on me at all times in case I suffered an attack. I, in faith, made the decision to put them away as well. From the moment of that prayer I have been completely healed of Meniere’s disease. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever," she said. It is so appropriate that Traci was healed in the land where Jesus walked…It is the land where her heart lives.

Conclusion The mission of Abundant Life ministries is to share the love of Christ with women in crisis. The hope of what takes place is that these women will find freedom, healing and new life in Christ. Traci, Laura and Anna hope that their neighbors here at home will be AWARE of these broken, forgotten women and will PRAY for them. The website to find out more about the beautiful ministry is http://www.abundantlife.org.il/. You will find a special segment on the Red Carpet broadcast by TBN in their show: “Why Israel Matters?” In addition, there are several poignant stories of victories and challenges met by this ministry. Elmore County Pregnancy Center

Laura Taylor described this area in Tel Aviv as dirty. It is common to see prostitutes in the streets at all hours and she told of an addicted woman who had passed out in the entrance of a daycare center and was just stepped over as people walked past the door. She quoted Anat, the founder of Abundant Life ministries, "If Jesus walked the earth today, this is where He would be, ministering to the least of these."
