Páll Stefánsson fæddur/born 1958 Páll nam ljósmyndun í Gautaborg í Svíþjóð. Lauk þar námi árið 1982 og var ráðinn sem ljósmyndari að Iceland Review-útgáfunni. Páll hefur einnig verið myndritstjóri útgáfunnar og myndað ólík verkefni víða um heim á hennar vegum. Hann var líka valinn til að ljósmynda ýmsa staði sem eru á Heimsminjaskrá Sameinu þjóðanna, fyrir bókaútgáfu. Segja má að Páli hafi á starfstíma sínum auðnast að breyta áherslum og ásýnd íslenskrar landslags- og náttúruljósmyndunar, á athyglisverðan hátt, en á sama tíma hefur mátt sjá endurkomu landslagsins í íslensku málverki. Páll vinnur ætíð í lit, í ýmsum filmustærðum, en myndir hans búa yfir ríkulegri tilfinningu fyrir litog ljósblæ, og formum í náttúrunni, og það nýtir Páll sér á stílhreinan hátt. Í meðförum hans hætta örnefni og staðsetning oft að skipta máli, heldur mynda nafnlaust rennsli vatns, sprungur í jökli eða skærgrænar mosaþembur í svörtu hrauni form sem segja um leið sögur um hina stærri náttúru og eigindir hennar. Myndir Páls hafa verið áberandi í íslenskri útgáfu, auk þess sem hann hefur sýnt þær víða. Margar veglegar bækur hafa verið gefnar út með ljósmyndum Páls.

Páll studied photography in Sweden. He completed his studies in 1982 and was hired as a photographer at Iceland Review Publishing, which has published the eponymous magazine about Icelandic issued for decades as well as the magazine Atlantica. Páll has also been the picture editor of the publication and worked as a photographer on different assignments all over the world. It can be said that in his career Páll has succeeded in changing the emphases and face of Icelandic landscape and nature photography in an interesting manner, but around the same time the resurgence of the landscape in Icelandic paintings can be discerned. Páll works in color, in different film formats, but in his photographs there is an acute feeling for shades of color and light and forms in nature, and Páll makes use of these in a very stylistically pure manner. In his handling, the place names and location often no longer matter, rather they form an anonymous flow of water over the frame, cracks in a glacier or bright-green clusters of moss on a black bed of lava, forms that tell stories of the vaster aspects of nature and its attributes. Páll’s photographs have been prominent in the Icelandic world of publishing. In addition he has exhibited his photographs widely, at home and abroad.
