There possibly wouldn’t be any organisation that doesn’t strive to make their workplace the best. And, there possibly wouldn’t be any professional who wouldn’t want to be a part of the best organisation. Well, the Great Place to Work® Institute caters to both sides of the story. The Institute conducts annual survey to certify organisations as Great Place to Work and it publishes the list of certified organisations that can be point of reference for jobseekers to get into the best organisation. How does it all work? The Great Place to Work® Institute conducts an annual research on work places in nearly 60 countries on six continents pertaining to various sectors - business, academia, the nonprofit sector and government. The Institute follows a rigorous and objective methodology based on standard metrics - the Trust Index©, and the Culture Audit© to identify and recognise workplaces as Great Place to Work. 

The Trust Index© comprises of parameters such as credibility, fairness, respect, pride, and camaraderie. These parameters measure the underlying trust within the organisation and the scores on this Index helps to provide targeted recommendations for improvement.

The Culture Audit© comprises of parameters related to hiring, inspiring, speaking, listening, thanking, developing, caring, celebrating, and sharing. These parameters evaluate programmes and practices of an organisation, identifies gaps, and recommends areas of improvement.

The Great Place to Work® Certification is recognised globally and is considered as one of the most prestigious achievements for any organisation. Here is why an organisation must get certified:

Akshaya Patra – a Great Place to Work certified organisation The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an Indian NGO implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme across 12 states. The NGO provides freshly cooked, nutritious and tasty meals to more than 1.7 million children in 36 locations, on each school day. By strategically and sustainably implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Akshaya Patra strives to achieve its vision, “No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.” The Foundation has been in the service of children since 2000 and by far has upheld the hopes of millions of children through food and education. Akshaya Patra received the Great Place to Work® Certification twice in a row i.e. ‘Great Place to Work 2017-18’ and ‘Great Place to Work 2018-19’. The NGO was certified after being surveyed and rated on the standard parameters followed by the Great Place to Work® Institute. Akshaya Patra aims at nourishing 5 million children by 2020. Indeed, a humongous task, but this Indian NGO believes it is an achievable task provided there is a concerted effort from the public sector, private sector, and the civil society.
