In this issue! So Much To Be Thankful For!...................................... 1 DCM News ........................ 2

Hello Division 44!

It JUST Happened ............ 3

While Halloween has just passed, if you turn on TV or head to a store, you’ll be sure to see some sort of Christmas ad. Mr. Turkey never seems to get the glory that he deserves. To me, Thanksgiving is more than just a turkey, gravy, stuffing, rolls, etc., but really an opportunity to look at all that you have, and wonder why you’re not doing this each and every day. All that I do for Key Club, and thus others, is because I have so much, and my being can help others. As I go out into my school or community in order to make it a better environment for all, I know that this might be something that they’ll be thankful for come

Thanksgiving time. I do this because of what I have in my home. When you go out and better the world in the name of Key Club, I hope that you are going out to better your home, school, and community, but are also thankful for the opportunity to help others, because of the gifts that you have yourself. That being said, I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving, full of fun, feast, and family and friends, in hope that you will remember those who, and what, you are thankful for. I can’t wait to visit your clubs soon, and meet my innie just as soon. Until the DCM, or December. In caring and service,

Alex Switzer Lt. Governor of Division 44

TOT for UNICEF I hope that you all had a wonderful Halloween, and didn’t end up scaring too many little kids! If your club went Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF, there are a couple things you need to do now. 1) Count the money! 2) Use this form to send in all cash and checks http://youth.unicefusa.org/assets/pdf/totresource-center-/2012/donation_form.pdf

3) You can turn in all of your change to a CoinStar machine. MAKE SURE TO SELECT UNICEF FIRST!

PNW KEY CLUB DIVISION 44 NEWSLETTER

$$ Dues! $$ Long and boring… I know…

Step-by-step instructions: 1. Go to www.keyclub.org/MUC to access the Membership Update Center. 2. Click "Register/Reset Password." All clubs should click on this link, regardless of whether or not they have paid dues in previous years or not. 3. You'll be prompted to enter an email address. If the faculty advisor who paid dues last year is still your faculty advisor, then enter his email address. He should receive a confirmation email informing him that his email address has been recognized and providing him with a unique hyperlink which will allow him to set his own, new password to access the Membership Update Center whenever he'd like. 4. If you have a new faculty advisor or your faculty advisor's email has been rejected, then you will need to email memberservices@kiwanis.org with a request to update your club's faculty advisor contact information before you can set yourself a password and get into the system. Once your information is updated, then you should be able to go through the process detailed inStep 3. 5. After you have set a new password for your club, then you will be able to log into the Membership Update Center in future years using your advisor's email address and your personal password. Once you get into the system, it is much improved from previous years and should be fairly self-explanatory. For more details about how to navigate the system once you are logged in, please see Kiwanis' help video--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tfAvudiiw&feature=youtu.be--or contact me with questions. Things to note: -The early bird dues and regular dues are BOTH as of December 1st. All after are late. -ID numbers that you have received in the past will not work. You will create a new password, which will work for years to come! -Logins will ONLY be available to faculty advisors and secretaries!  I personally recommend changing your secretary’s email to a club email if you have one. For example, Union’s Secretary, Taylor, does not have her email in the system, instead it is Unionkeyclub@gmail.com, so that ANY of the officers can access it. This just allows the treasurer to cross reference a paid dues list, or a President to see total members, or the VP to check an hours list! 5

PNW KEY CLUB DIVISION 44 NEWSLETTER

Walk and Knock Secretary Reports SECRETARY REPORTS ARE DUE ON THE 5TH. THE END.

Each year, Key Club has worked with Kiwanians during Walk and Knock. This event is actually three separate events, two days of bag folding, and then the actual event. During bag folding, we help to fold the bags and insert fliers about Walk and Knock. These bags are then distributed the days before Walk and Knock via the local papers! This allows everyone in the community to help!

http://bit.ly/pnw_club_report Each secretary is required to send in a monthly report. The form is on the Division 44 website, and shouldn’t take more than 5 or 10 minutes. After you’ve filled it out, you’ll then send it to me, as well as PNWclubreports@gmail.com These are extremely important, and help us to keep track of each of the clubs in our division. Thank you guys for your help!

:)

The day of the actual event, we all gather together, and either go collect food, or stay back and help pack the food into boxes. If you’re interested, please let me know, and I’ll talk with Kiwanians (or feel free to talk to them directly!) about where they’ll be meeting! Expect more information later in the month.

Day 1: Bag Folding - Saturday, Nov. 17 - 8am – 12 pm Day 2: Bag Folding - Saturday, Nov. 24 - 8am – 12 pm Day 3: Walk and Knock - Saturday, Dec. 1 – 8am – end 9

have a question?

need an answer? As usual, I write something here that relates to an event that has happened recently. This month, it will be the Presidential Election. I’ll try to keep this as unbiased as possible, while also relating it. On November 6th, the United States, and the world, held its breath as the American People voted for the new leader of the free world. Going in, everything indicated that the race would be extremely close, with no clear winner. At the nights end, the President was re-elected, and the American people had decided. The loser conceded, and the day went on.

Now, as my term comes to an end, we know that I won’t be elected, but some other Key Clubber will lead the Division, and could possibly be a leader of the Pacific Northwest. I encourage anyone who thinks that they can better the division to run, as that’s what the position is about. Even if you don’t get the position, you’ll have the chance to go on and better your club. Becoming LtG might not seem like much, it will leave you with memories and friendships that will carry on. If you have any question, please ask me! (And yes, I did compare being Lt. Governor to the President of the United States of America. )
