MATCHIN’ UP WITH MARTINEZ

SQUEEZE PLAY Q:Your teammates recognize you as the most superstitious player on the team. What are your most superstitious habits? A:That’s true. I just like to keep everything the same and keep a very predictable pregame routine. Q:You seem to have a superstition with batting gloves going on right now. How did that come about? A:(Graduate Manager) Duke Williams pointed that out to me and it’s true. I’m hitting better with out them right now. Q:Teammate Adam McClain stated that he absolutely has the best style on the team. What are your thoughts on that proclaimation? A:No chance! (Laughs) I hate to break it to him, but I definitely have the best style on the team. I’ll give it to him though, he is a close second. He’s got a little bit of swag.

Q:What is your favorite rain-out activity? A:Eating. Q:What is the best part of being a U of M baseball player? A:The tradition surrounding the program and the support of Tiger fans and students. Q:What is something that your teammates don’t know about you? A:I was a karate king growing up. Q:What is your favorite Tiger roadtrip? A:Going to New Orleans is always my favorite trip because a lot my family lives down there and it feels like home. It always makes me feel great to see my family in the stands. Q:What is currently playing on your iPOD? A:Dan Langfield has me listening to a bunch of country music right now. I’m not a country person but I’m vibin’ it right now.
