Learning Objectives for the Final Outcome Based on the feedback that our group received from the EOI crits and tutorial classes, our group was instructed to focus on enhancing the existing environment and landscape of Wyndham City, to create an interesting installation, by using the techniques that the group explored in the final stages of EOI proposal, which is the technique of "Rationalising" a surface. This technique consists of an additive approach of taking individual panels and aggregating the individual panels to fill a surface area. By strategically referencing the points and locations of each panel to the surface, the surface can then become an undulating surface of hundreds of small panel fibres, held in place by multiple rows of vertical and horizontal of surface contours or x and y polymer grids, which then can be constructed into trusses in reality. As a result of manipulating the curvature of the surface, in effect give different appears to the surface depending on where it is viewed. At times the surface reveals the existing surface underneath, while at other angles view it presents the overall view of a solid panel cladding.

Techiques of Rationalisation 01. Creating a surface or create three curves and lofting to create a surface.

03. Surface Frame, creates a reference point for the indiviual panels, by creating a grid of (uv) panels on the surface

05. Creating x and y panels on to the surface, giving freedom to the panels to sit off the surface. Cull component, reduces the number of panels, prevent panels to overlap, this process makes the panels easy to fabricate.

Precedent: Sukkah City Competition NYC 2012

The Gathering The Gathering is an urban installation designed by Dale Suttle and Gia Nguyen and was a precedent that our group explored to workout certain construction methods and effect that could be used in our design. Our group wanted to explore ways to hide the structure in our design and this gave us ideas and approach which could be used. The visual asethics of this precedent also gave the group Ideas to create a sense of movement through the variation and process of the sticks (panels). The interesting aspect of this design is the angle and flow of the sticks, leading the eye to finish point at the top of this structure and how light is also mainpulates the surface , giving it different effects.

Precedent Greg Lynn : Recycle Toys

Greg Lynn Recycle Toys was a precedent that our group explore. This precedent was presented to the group in a tutorial class and it lead to the idea of using toys or novelty items to create a dynamic surface, similar to Greg Lynn's Fountain and Recycle Toys projects. The group looked at ways to accentuate the current landscape of Wyndham City and turn it into a more playful, witty, dynamic surface. One of the major design outcomes that was dervied from this precdent was that decision to select an object that was unified in appears, an object that looked identical like each other and can be mass producted.

Precedent: Greg Lynn Recycle Toys

Greg Lynn Recycle Toys, is a project of recycle toys that are laser scanned and digitized into a computer, and then postions and arrayed like bricks. The intersections of the toys are defined by cutting paths, and it is a robot that cuts the joints and connections with precision. They are then welded together with a tool that is used to repair car fenders.

Precedent: Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons is best known for causing controversy by the elevation of unashamed kitsch items into the high art arena His sculpture differs in two major respects to the original kitsch: 1.It is made of metal (painted bright red to give the appearance of balloons) 2.It is more than ten feet (three metres) tall. Koon's uses of the avant-garde technique of "appropriation" of everyday objects --and twist them and blow them out of proportion. By exploring the ideas of Jeff Koon the group looked at theorys in relation to popular kitsch items and how it would effect the Wyndham City proposal, in a way the group wanted a more ground idea and purpose for creating the Pork Waffle.

Cai Guo-Qiang - Head On is a precedent that the group explored, the idea and theory behind this project is somewhat not related to this project, however the group focus on how the 99 wolfs where constructed to create this flow of movement and a dynamic sequences that related to our project of exploring referencing object onto a surface.

01. Produce a physical model at 1:50 (to be confirmed with tutors) of your design, situated on a printed drawing (or a physical model) of the site. The model should include all designed details and surface treatments and communicate its performative intent.

Making Pigs Process This is the following process of producing a pig model, made out of pinkysil. By using a toy pigs, formwork was build to create a mould. JWax was sprayed between the mould before casting. After the pinkysil and curing liquid is mixed it is then injected into the mould. each pig took about 20-30 mintues to dry and be ready to be taken out of the mould.

Important process of hold the moulds together. The rubberband ensures that the liquid doesn't leak out. JWAX must be sprayed before this process

The following images is the process of taking photos under a controlled light, this was done in a studio, using 2x flash heads at 45 degrees angles, one blowing out the background and the other highlighting the the model. The camera that was use was a Mark II

Pork Waffle is an innovative architecture installation speciffically designed and developed for Wyndham City Council's Gateway proposal. It is an architecture instaillation, which consist of polymer of pigs sitting on top of curved surface struture. 'Pork Waffle' was design to blend into the existing landscape of Wyndham City as it surface shape conforms to an existing topography of the proposed site, however it creatively accentuates the current landscape into more playful and dynamic one through an exciting eye catching scuptural element - Pigs.

02. Docment the fabrication process using highquality vector drawings.

Instead of a surface panel reference to the surface frame, the group changed it to a mesh pig that was similar in size to the groupâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; s model pig. Through the grasshopper components each pig was position in oriented on the surface, in an x and y gird. Through the uses of the x and y slides the group was able to manipulate the density and resolution of the surface with multiple pigs. This is the following process that was taken to create the pork waffle through computation

Pork Waffle This construction diagram is how the pigs are installed on the waffle system. The legs of the polymer pigs will be bolt to each panel.
