Hillbillies at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

reetings from the shack Nobles. Well, we sure had one heck of a busy winter. After a lot of long hours of working on the Rocky Top 7-11, we were able to change out the engine and transmission. Also, we had some really good work weekends . We moved lots of things around upstairs and cleaned up the shack. The Hillbilly Band played for the Legion of Honor barbecue and from what I understand our very own Noble Duke couldn’t help but get out there and cut a rug! We were happy to welcome Illustrious Sir Rick and the Divan for the official visit in February. It was a wonderful time and the food was delicious. Thanks to Lady Sue and Illustrious Shep for the awesome spaghetti. Noble Joe Thornton P.D. presented Noble Uncle Ed Dowell with a plaque to recognize a donation to the Khedive Transportaion Fund in his son’s memory. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Uncle Ed and Lady Shirley. As usual, the 46th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Ocean View was spectacular! The weather was a little shaky, but right before the parade started, the weather broke and it was darn right gorgeous outside! The crowd was large and lively. The Clubhouse was beautifully decorated. Thank you to all the Ladys and Nobles that spent so much time putting together all of the dishes, deserts, and decorations and for setting up the bar. Also, thank you to Illustrious Don Meyer and Noble Chris Jeager for preparing the corned beef and cabbage. A special thanks to Noble David Swoope for his very generous donation of a massive 12 burner propane grilling station at our regular March meeting. Not only did he provide the grill, but he also cooked a very nice meal for all the Nobles. Many Hillbillies were present to help the Chesapeake Shrine Club both as helpers and guests with their 36th annual Oyster Roast. It was an absolutely beautiful day and thousands of people showed up for what was one heck of a good time! It looks like spring has somewhat sprung and we are looking forward to all the upcoming events and parades. Unfortunately, we will not be participating in the Daffodil Parade this year, but will be ready for the NATO parade in downtown Norfolk. See Y’all round the shack.
