Greetings, Beloved Sorors!

As we step into a brand-new year, I extend heartfelt greetings and gratitude to each of you on behalf of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated The past year has been one of growth, service, and sisterhood, and together, we have demonstrated the true meaning of our motto: "Service to All Mankind "

As Basileus, I am proud of all that we have accomplished together. From uplifting our communities through impactful initiatives to empowering each other with love and grace, we have remained steadfast in our mission. This new year presents an opportunity to build on our legacy, set new goals, and manifest excellence in every endeavor.

As we embrace this year of promise and possibilities, I encourage you to reflect on the goals you wish to achieve individually and collectively. Let us step boldly into 2025 with renewed purpose and an unwavering commitment to our core values

Delta Kappa Omega Chapter’s Pearls of Perfection Welcomes New Members

The Pearls of Perfection (POP) recently inducted 27 new members into its organization. Sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s Delta Kappa Omega Chapter, POP is a leadership organization for young ladies between the ages of 13 and 18. “We are so very pleased to welcome these wonderful young ladies,” said Shoney Bellamy, POP Committee Chairman. “They are our future leaders, and we look forward to mentoring them and working with them as we provide service to our local community.”

The goals of the POP are to increase the number of female scholars, heighten self-esteem and values, develop leadership and decision-making skills, promote civic responsibility and enhance cultural awareness “With POP, our mission is to empower these burgeoning young leaders with the skills they will need to help build a successful future,” said Basileus Vettye “When they graduate from our program, it is our goal to have them better prepared for college or whatever their next level of achievement will be ”

“I am honored to be inducted into Pearls of Perfection, which I believe will empower me to excel academically, lead confidently, and to embrace my full potential,” said Jurzi Williams, a 10th grade student at Florida State University Schools. “My Pearl sisters, and I, look forward to the opportunities we’ll have to learn, grow, make new friends and give back to our community.”

Prayer Changes Things: Delta Kappa Omega Chapter Hosts Annual Sweet Hour of Prayer

On January 11, 2025, The Spiritual Outreach Committee hosted its annual Sweet Hour of Prayer, themed Prayer Changes Things. Members gathered for a morning of prayer, reflection, and spiritual fellowship, lifting prayers for the chapter’s initiatives, the Providence community, the nation, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and milestone Sorors.

Chaired by Sorors Lanell McCaskill and Donna Harvey, the program featured moving performances by Pearls of Joy, directed by Soror Adrienne Lucas, and a powerful solo by Soror Kerri Lamar Anderson. Soror Hodgetta Huckaby presided, with an inspiring invocation by Soror Barbara Awoniyi and a heartfelt occasion by Soror Donna Harvey. Prayers and scriptures were offered for the chapter’s target programs, social justice, community uplift, and national well-being, led by dedicated Sorors Soror Sharon Berrian honored milestone Sorors Diamond, Pearl, Golden, and Silver with a tribute and special gifts

The event welcomed participation from Beta Alpha Chapter (FAMU) and esteemed guests, including Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox and presidents of local AKA chapters Basileus Vettye Gibbs emphasized the significance of the prayers offered, reinforcing their impact on the sorority’s mission and community service

Founders Day

January 15, 2025

We celebrated 117 years of Sisterhood and Service. Sorors gathered and celebrated Founders’ Day in two ways. One group gathered for a Founders Day Brunch at the new restaurant ‘Midtown & 3rd Restaurant. Later in the evening, another group came together for a Sisterly Mixer.

On January 20, 2025, we began the morning by marching in the Martin Luther King Parade and then we gathered to assemble and organize the “period products” that will be delivered to several Leon County schools!
