Modern Languages Department The aims of the Modern Languages Department are to provide students with the knowledge and the ability to communicate in a foreign language and to see a language as a real lifelong process of getting to know a new culture, a new perspective, and a new mindset. Foreign languages are offered at both iGCSE and A Level, including French, German, Polish, Spanish, and Russian.

The learning of modern languages at the school reflects the interdisciplinary ethos that underpins Akademeia’s approach to education as a whole, with lessons designed around cultural experience as much as linguistic practice. Whilst the A Level course itself requires research into history, art, literature, and politics, this is supported by a full co-curricular programme (including excursions abroad and more specific language options), which encourages the development of skills to be applied across the curriculum.

Natural Sciences Department We aim to demonstrate the interconnected nature of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to all students taking the Natural Sciences. In our well-equipped laboratories, students run their own experiments and learn how to describe them accurately in written reports under the tutelage of academics involved in active research covering a range of scientific interests.

One of the most fascinating elements of Natural Sciences is that if you have enough skill, enough knowledge, you can look at the surrounding reality and instead of seeing objects or people, you see mechanisms, organisms, reactions. So, it’s a very deep understanding of the reality.
