Proudly Supporting Our Soror Entrepreneurs

Soror Spotlight

President's Corner Greetings Sorors!

Velina Willis Velina was awarded the Shining Star Award for supporting and volunteering with UNCF efforts throughout the years. ____________________________ Tara L. Paige Tara, author and speaker, will launch her brand on June 1. On her website www. taralpaige.com you can find information on her new book, t-shirt and healing club.

This month we are celebrating Alpha Kappa Alpha entrepreneurs and black owned businesses. Our consumer dollars make brands household names, so let us use our resources to make our community products global. The upcoming newsletter will provide a few names of business to support and books to purchase. As we consider where to spend our black dollars, do not forget that June is the month to celebrate the men in our lives who serve as fathers and father figures in our families and communities. Please take a moment to show appreciation to those who have coached, coddled and cared for us. Their love has helped to shaped us into the women we are today. I am certain consumer dollars will flow from those attending the 66th Boule in July. As we prepare to embark on a new program we are assured our purpose remains the same - service to all mankind. Every program we implement shapes our image in the community and I am confident we will continue to shine.

There are no proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws. The Spring Ivy Leaf has arrived and contains information on the certified candidates. In an email from the International Nominating Committee it was noted that some of the information submitted by the committee for publication in the Ivy Leaf contains errors. The candidates’ information has been corrected on the website. Please review and be prepared to discuss at the June meeting. • The Northeast Texas Cluster retreat will be held in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday, October 25.

I appreciate the sisterliness so very much and remember, this is strictly a volunteer activity. But it has worked. We have feasted on delicious menu selections and in the process, gotten to know each other so much better. When we reassemble in September, Soror Hazel Gee Captain and the Silver and Golden Sorors will delight us. October - Soror Shunda Dixon, November - Soror Tonna Brooks and the Line of 2004, and for the month of December, TBA. If you like the volunteer refreshment idea, we can do it again next year. All ideas and suggesting accepted.

Sorors volunteer their time at the Glencrest Health Fair.

Florastine Mack and Tammy Baxter pose with winners of the Health Fair essay contest.

Shirley Williams gets participants in step at the Health Fair.
