First Bell I do not think of myself a “shoe person”, but I realized when I get home, I trip over all the shoes I own. When I was assigned this shoe design project I looked at my shoes and thought to myself “What do I not own?” Colorful shoes were something missing within my wardrobe. From there I started playing with solid colors on different parts of the shoe. After a while I noticed that the yellow, blue, and red ones where my favorite, and from there I got the idea of making a school theme. The yellow one is the “pencil sketch” shoe, blue is the “graph paper” shoe, and red is the “line paper” shoe. After having the three variations I wanted a name that brought them all together and ended up branding the collection “first Bell”, with the brand name being Cali.

My mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012. When I started the Campaign for Good project I knew I wanted to focus on MS. The official color for MS is Orange, which is why I used it as my main color throughout the project. I also wanted this project to represent strength and family. To show that in type, I chose to use a bold san serif type for the strength, and a soft script font to convey family. For the campaign I designed an infographic, awareness event poster, a t-shirt and sticker to be sold at the event.

n e e r c S g n i t Prin

This is a poster I designed to show the process of Screen Printing. Screen Printing is a great easy way to mass produce a product, though many people do not understand it. With this poster, I chose to go with a blue print feel where I broke down all the different pieces you need to screen print and explain the steps of how it works.

What

Screen Printing is a form of printing that uses a mesh screen and frame to place ink in a selective design onto different products.

Why Screen Printing can get vibrate colors from inks or even metals onto different materials. It is also an inexpensive, great way to mass produce products like T-Shirts.

How 1.) Create an image that is desired to print onto product. 2.) Print the Image onto a sheet of translucent paper. 3.) Coat the Screen with a thin layer of Photo Emulsion and let it dry over night in a dark place. 4.) Expose the Image backwards on the Screen by placing the translucent paper on top of the frame under light for an appropriate time. 5.) Clean the frame and screen with water untill uncured photo emulsion washes away Completely. 6.) Place frame on the product where image is desired to print. 7.) Print by placing ink on frame and brushing up and down with the squeegee. * - Product not limited to t-shirts

COASTAL For this project, I was tasked with creating a brand, menu, and collateral products for a hypothetical food truck. I chose to create a seafood truck for the Providence area. The logo posed as the most difficult part of the project. I found it difficult to narrow down an illustration style and type of fish. In the end, I decided on the Striped Bass being it is the Rhode Island state fish and the food truck’s home would be in Providence, Rhode Island. In this project, I also wanted to try something new, and attempted a geometric illustration style. To begin, I started with making the geometric fish icon and then added geometric shapes around the truck, menu, and food tray for brand cohesiveness

Many view designing tri-fold brochures as a boring task, but as a designer my professor challenged me to take a “boring format & find a way of making it unique. The challenge was utilizing photos that I took and finding interesting new ways of integrating them with the text. Since I live close to Boston I decided to take a day and go to the Downtown Crossing to take some original photography. For colors, I chose to use orange being that orange is a prominent color in the downtown crossing area, and blue as a complementary color. Though a simple, I learned a lot about taking photos and hot to incorporate them into my work.

Downtown Providence People have been traveling and getting lost since the dawn of time. Living in a modern world I combined way-finding with technology. The name ExploreRi is a combination of Explore and RI. Then the interface I designed was to be located in downtown Providence. So, the final name became ExploreRi Downtown Providence. These kiosks would tell people about the downtown Providence area, about places to eat, where to shop, shows going on in the area, and more information about the locations history. The Kiosk could also send directions to an app on your phone so you do not need to stay with the kiosk to remember where you need to go.

Lemon Strawberry Sangria Flavored Wine Cooler, Natural & Artificial Flavors4.0% Alc. By Vol. 12. Oz. Wine Speciality

I was giving one rule for this project; it had to be a form of packaging for a beverage of my choice. From there I wanted to do something other than a glass bottle with a simple wrap. My original idea of this project was to do a wine juice box for people who want to drink wine at a party but prefer not to bring a whole bottle. I chose to utilize brighter colors to convey the concept that I am going for. To challenge myself, I strived to make a typographic pattern, being I never have never done anything like it before. I started this process by determining the different fonts I would use in it. I started with about 12 fonts and narrowed it down to 4 for the lock-up. I then made 3 different list of words to use, one with words conveying classy and

elegant, and one for words to go with the party atmosphere. The last was a list for the actual flavors in the drink.

When thinking of the history of Typography, the first thing that comes to mind is the use of Helvetica with in the Boston train system. I wanted to make a themed typography book utilizing the colors and various routes with in the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority. To incorporate something different, I utilized a version of a Japanese style stab-stich binding to go with the various train lines in Boston. I also incorporated my own photographs from riding the train every day. Throughout this project, I learned to appreciate the benefits of prototyping multiple times to perfect the overall craft & book binding. In the end, all the effort paid off because not only was I satisfied by the results, but it ended up being one of my favorite projects.

I designed this to be part of the Art & Activism Event/Exhibit at Johnson & Wales University. I wanted to express something that I felt as a child I could not, my poster addresses “normal” playing for your gender. My parents and family never said it was wrong, but I always felt I could not talk about it, and had to hide toys I wanted to play with that would be viewed as gender inappropriate. This poster means a lot to me because it is something that I want to fix and make so no kids have to feel like they cannot play with something, just because it is not seen as “normal” for their gender.

The Gentle Man When tasked with making a catalog for 30+ items, I thought of utilizing all of my clothes. I started creating a clothing catalog about clothes and asked a friend of mine to take photos of me to use in the catalog. While working on it several students in my class showed interest and asked if they could also have photos taken of them to be used within. After many photo shoots, I created an extensive photo library of products to design the catalog. An additional part of the project was to design and create a trade show booth. I utilized an online mock-up and added my own graphic elements to design the trade show.

boom! At the Beginning of the summer I had an idea for an ice cream brand. Solid, bold, pure, flavor ice cream. I was sick of craving a peanut butter ice cream to just get vanilla ice cream with peanut butter chunks in it. I designed the brand to match the mission statement of solid colors, bold text, and a pure design. I made three variations of ice creams that I would love to eat.

Paper sample books are beautiful pieces of work. They do not just sell the paper, but then showcase them in creative ways. For my paper sample book, I used Neenah Astro Brights for its bright colors and wanted to highlight the variety of paper. For the book itself, I created a clip board waterfall displaying all of the colors. On the left-hand side of the book is a “stage where you can use the cut outs within the waterfall to create a scene. Every page has the same cut outs so the scene you create can contain all of the different colors the line has to offer. I love the idea that everyone will use this feature differently and create a space scene custom to themselves.
