WELCOME TO THE ISST D2 VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Welcome to the American International School – Vienna and to the ISST Division 2 Volleyball Tournament, We are excited to host your upcoming tournament, and we express best wishes to all of the team members, coaches, and visitors who are part of this great end-of-season tournament. Most of our competitors have been playing since August or September seems like a long time ago now. The energy, the fun of a tournament is a wonderful way to cap your experience! Winning and losing are both part of the experience, and growing through it all is what counts in the end. We hope you make great memories, that you support your teammates, that you respect your opponents and your referees. Finally, with all of the sincerity of one who cannot leap, or run, or dive as I could when I was young, this chance to compete at something you love is one of the extra gifts carried forward through our ISST school community, and a time to enjoy right here, right now, in Vienna! Sincerely,

Steve Razidlo, Director

It is our pleasure to welcome you to AIS Vienna for the 2016 D2 ISST tournament. Our Events Office has worked hard to manage the details necessary to make sure this is a weekend of not only great volleyball, but a weekend where all our guests have a chance to make life long memories. As athletes you have chosen to embrace competition, which means that every time you take the court there is not only the possibility of success, but also the risk that your efforts will not be rewarded. It is in these moments you will find the opportunity to demonstrate the best elements of your character: respect, tenacity, composure, camaraderie, and the ability to manage pressure. These opportunities can help prepare us for many of the challenges life will present, and we trust you will be proud of your memories from this weekend. We wish you the best of luck, that you have good health, and that you have a great time. Sincerely,

Jarret Lambie, High School Principal Dear Guests, The American International School Vienna welcomes you to the 2016 ISST Division 2 Boys Volleyball Championships. We are excited to host this year's competition and hope that you enjoy our facilities. We wish you all the very best for the tournament. My personal thanks go to the following; the AIS community who have opened up their homes to the visiting athletes, the school administration and teachers, the Tournament Staff, and the Events Office--Nick DeForest, Claudia Bonek and Karin Hackl without their hard work this event would simply not take place. I would like to wish you all a successful and memorable championship and hope that you enjoy your short stay with us.

Andy Harrison, Director of Athletics, Activities and Events

I.S.S.T. Statement of Sportsmanship The purpose of the International Schools Sports Tournament is to provide a venue for athletes from the member schools to compete in an environment that is safe, challenging, professional and educational. Each athlete is given the opportunity to demonstrate her/his best athletic ability while maintaining a spirit of respect and co-operation with fellow athletes from various international backgrounds. Each event involves students and adults in their different roles: these include the athletes, coaches, sports officials and spectators. All those involved in the event are expected to uphold the same spirit of respect and co-operation. This spirit is demonstrated by fair play among athletes, positive encouragement from coaches, impartial judgments from officials and respectful enthusiasm from spectators. The behavior of the adults is crucial to the successful educational aspect of the tournament. The adults act as models for our athletes. Therefore profanity, deliberately making noises that distract and interfere with the performance of a competing athlete, the condemnation of coaches or officials, or any behavior that is disrespectful or degrading to the ISST standard of sportsmanship, jeopardizes the purposes of the ISST organization and, most of all, jeopardizes the quality of the experience for the athletes. As the event ensues, we ask that all of our parents, coaches, officials and athletes keep this vision of our purpose in mind.

Acknowledgements Thank you to all those who have made this tournament possible!

Mike Maloy Gym In 2011 AIS's 'Upper Gym' became known as the Mike Maloy Gym in an official dedication by Mike’s son Ryan. There are signs inside and outside of the gym as well as a three paneled display board which contains the story of his life. Please take the time to read about our friend and colleague when you are on campus.
