APRIL 2013 NEWSLETTER Dear Parents Welcome and Goodbye Welcome to our new parents and children. We also say goodbye to Tracey Wilkinson who leaves us at the end of April to pursue a career working with her husband. Tracey has been with us almost 23 years. We wish her all the best. Parents Forum We welcome new members. In order to make things happen we need more members. The Forum meets once every 2 months in the evening and helps organise events such as the Christmas Fayre and summer Open Day. We also listen to and discuss parents views and share practice and policies, fundraising, and the idea is to develop the Forum into more of a social event Suggestions are to change the venue, possibly to a local pub and for parents to add ideas or topics to the agenda. If you are interested in joining the Forum please complete and return the attached slip with your preferred day to meet, time and location by Friday 11th April. Thank you. Date for your diary We plan to hold our annual Open Day on Saturday 6th July 2013. Red Nose Day Thank you to all who donated. We raised £63.80. World Downs Syndrome Day Thank you to all who donated, we will let you know the amount raised in the next newsletter. Staff Training Day All staff attended our mandatory training day on Monday 18th March which focused on Customer Care in the morning and Behaviour Management in the afternoon. Nursery Places Available We have vacancies in Duckling and Puffin rooms. If you have any friends or family who are interested in a place who work in the NHS or other public sector would you please ask them to contact me.
Holiday Books Please complete the holiday book in your child’s room with any holidays you are having. During February half term we employed additional bank staff to cover and some children did not attend, incurring additional and unnecessary expense. Nursery Path Thank you for your patience whilst works are underway to tarmac the nursery path. This has been delayed due to adverse weather conditions. Nursery Bookings Parents reminded that nursery opens at 7.00 a.m. and are asked to respect the time before we open so that staff can set up for the day. Nursery closes at 6.00 p.m. and parents are asked to collect their children by this time, unless you have a prior arrangement to collect later. If you are going to be late, please telephone to let us know. Parents are also reminded to adhere to their booking dates and times as nursery is staffed according to need and we need to keep to legal ratios. Infection Prevention It appears that the long winter is having an adverse effect on the health of some of our children and we would ask that if you child is unwell, that they do not come to nursery as illnesses are being transmitted and we do not have the staffing capacity to care for unwell children. Nursery Website Nursery now has new pages on the Airedale website – we are under the “Our Services” tab. Please take a look at http://www.airedaletrust.nhs.uk/Services/Nursery/Home.html Monthly Newsletters With efficiency in mind, we plan to put our monthly newsletter on the website soon.
