BRIEF: TO EXPLORE DIFFERENT PROCESSES AND FORMATS BY PRODUCING 5 BESPOKE INVITATIONS FOR FASHION DESIGNERS TO ATTEND VOGUE’S CELEBRATION OF 15 YEARS OF VOGUE ONLINE. CONCEPT: THE FIVE DESIGNERS I CREATED THE BESPOKE INVITES FOR WERE CHRISTOPHER KANE, LOUBOUTIN, STELLA McCARTNEY, VERSACE & HENRY HOLLAND. I WANTED THE PROCESS I USED IN THE INVITES TO REFLECT THE CONCEPT OF THEIR BRAND SO EACH PROCESS WAS CHOSEN WITH ITS PURPOSE. TO BRING CONSISTENCY ACROSS ALL THE BESPOKE INVITES, AS THEY WERE ALL FOR THE SAME EVENT, I KEPT TO THE SAME DELIVERABLES FOR EACH EVEN THOUGH THEY WOULD BE DIFFERENT FORMATS. THE LAYOUT OF THE TYPE AND TYPEFACE CHOICE ACROSS THE RANGE OF INVITES WAS ALSO CHOSEN TO DEPICT THE STYLE OF THE VOGUE EVENT. THE KEY CONSISTENCY TO THE RANGE OF INVITES IS THE GUEST PASSES WHICH EASILY IDENTIFY THE GUEST AND THE PROCESS USED FOR THEM. GUEST PASSES

CHRISTOPHER KANE: KANE IS KNOWN FOR HIS USE OF STUDS AND RIVOTS FOR EMBELLISHMENT ON GARMENTS, AS WELL AS BEING MOSTLY BLACK OR ACID COLOURS. I WANTED TO SIMPLY THE IDEA OF STUDS, CREATING A CLEAN CIRCULAR PATTERN. I ALSO DECIDED LASER CUTTING WOULD BE THE MOST APPROPRIATE PROCESS, USING THE CUT-THROUGH CAPACITY TO REFERENCE THE USE OF STUDS IN CHRISTOPHER KANE’S GARMENTS. PROCESS: I DISCOVERED A LOT WITH LEARNING TO LASER CUT, ONE BIG THING THAT IT LEAVES A LOT OF BURN MARKS, WHICH PROVED TO CAUSE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WHEN LASER CUTTING PRINTED ITEMS. BUT THIS WAS ALL EXPERIMENTATION OF THE PROCESS INVITE, RSVP, ENVELOPE, GUEST PASS

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN: THE SHOE DESIGNER IS FAMOUS FOR HIS BRIGHT RED UNDERSOLE AND PATENT LEATHER HEEL. I WANTED TO TAKE THIS OVER TO MY CONCEPT FOR THE PRINT PROCESS FOR WHICH I DECIDED SPOT VARNISH ONTO BLACK WAS THE MOST APPROPRIATE. I ALSO WANT TO PROPOSE A RED COLOUR EDGING AS THE KEY CONCEPT TO MY DELIVERABLES WAS TO KEEP THE RED UNDERNEATH, SHOWING THROUGH THE SIDE. PROCESS: CLEAR FOIL VARNISH IN PROPOSAL OF SPOT VARNISH. BECAUSE OF THE STOCK CHOICE IT WAS NOT ABLE TO DIGITALLY SPOT VARNISH, THEREFORE A HAND-DRIVEN PROCESS OF USING A CLEAR FOIL AND APPLYING HEAT TO CREATE THE SPOT VARNISH. SIMPLE BLOCK OF VARNISH ON SQUARE REPRESENT THE PATENT LEATHER FAMOUS FOR

HOUSE OF HOLLAND : HIS STYLE USES A LOT OF TYPE AND IN YOUR FACE COPY, WITH A HINT OF CLUB CULTURE WHICH I WANTED TO BRING TO THE INVITE. I WANTED USE OF SPOT COLOURS SO THE PROCESS IN PRODUCTION USED WAS SCREEN PRINTING

STELLA McCARTNEY: THE DESIGNER IS VERY ENVIRONMENTALLY AND ETHICALLY CONSCIOUS IN HER OWN LIFE AND RANGE FROM FASHION TO ORGANIC SKIN CARE. I WANTED THIS TO COME ACROSS IN THE PROCESS I CHOSE FOR HER BESPOKE INVITES. I DECIDED AGAINST THE USE OF ANY HARMFUL INKS FOR THIS INVITE AND WANTED IT TO LOOK REALLY ORGANIC. I CHOSE EMBOSSING FOR THIS CASE, USING OFF-CUT SCRAPS OF SUSTAINABLE FORESTED WOOD, TO LASER AN EMBOSSING PLATE. I PROPOSE THE USE OF SFI RECYCLED PAPERS, I ALSO CHOSE WHITE TO REFERENCE THAT I HADN’T USED A LOT OF INKS OR STOCKS THAT WOULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE ENVIRONMENT
