We have always prided ourselves on our excellent glass products with everything from hardwood, PVC, aluminium, vertical slides, shop fronts, curtain walling and conservatories for both the commercial and residential sector.

A Rated NSAI WEP certified at Sean Doyle Windows and Doors Ltd. We are proud to offer our customers six different A rated windows and we are one of the first manufacturers in Ireland to have NSAI WEP certified A rated windows. Each WEP rating label is specific to a unique window frame and glazing assembly from a single manufacturer. The WEP Certificate will display an overall energy rating, similar to the Building Energy Rating (BER) label, for a defined window and window frame assembly, this allowing customers to make an informed selection. Customers may already be familiar with the BRFC rating typically used in the UK and Northern Ireland market but the NSAI (National Standards Authority Ireland) rating is far superior and guarantees customers the peace of mind when it comes to energy efficiency.

Donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be fooled - Some people say that they have an A rated window, but in fact have a low E rated glass fitted to their window. However, only when the glass and the frame in its entirety are made, assembled and tested by the NSAI can it be called an A rated or Passive window. Only companies certified by the NSAI are listed on their website and customers are guaranteed that they are getting an A rated window. The UK and Northern Ireland BRFC rating system is tested to a lower inferior standard and cannot be compared to the NSAI rating which is specifically calculated to meet the demands of extremely harsh Irish weather conditions. Window Energy Performance (WEP) Certificate Your Questions Answered What is a Window Energy Performance (WEP) Rating? A window energy performance rating is the overall energy balance of a window taking into account the frame, the U value of the glass, spacebar used and air leakage. The WEP rating is provided for a standard window to represent typical window sizes. This enables comparison between different products. The purpose of the scheme is to independently certify windows for an energy performance rating. The WEP rating fixes numerous parameters in its calculations such as orientation, number of days in a heating system, effects of solar radiation, over shading amongst others, in order to allow useful comparisons between window designs. The rating allow customers to determine how well each window will perform in terms of insulation, how effective each window is at containing and conserving heat, how well a product blocks heat caused by sunlight as well as the air leakage and condensation resistance factors.

What is a U value? The U value of a window is a measurement of the rate of heat loss indicating how well your windows are keeping valuable heat. The lower the U value the better the thermal performance of the glass. The NSAI (National Standards Authority Ireland) rating is the system for rating the energy efficiency of windows and it contains bands from A to G, where A is the most efficient and G the least. The NSAI WEP Certificate uses a consumer friendly style of ratings which is similar to that used on ‘white good’ products such as fridges, freezers, washing machines etc. This rating system allows customers to make an informed choice about the energy efficiency of the windows they are going to purchase. With carbon emissions high on the global agenda and the current high cost of fuel, we are all looking at ways to make our home more energy efficient.
