T I M M U S Y T I SUSTAINABIL

RECRUITMENT BOOKLET 3.0 18

DEADLINE: 22 Feb 20

WHAT IS YS? Youth to Sustainability Summit is an annual youth-voice pla1orm since 2013. Over years, we gathered over 300 youths each year from the local universi?es and high schools to explore and create solu?ons for the sustainable development of Hong Kong. Youths are given chances to interact with guests from the business, social, government and academic sectors through a series of panel discussions, sharing, workshops and trainings on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By the end of the Summit, youths will generate projects and present it to the general public and key inuencers in the society.

Quick Facts (Most Updated): Date: 10th Jun 2018 (Kick O Day), 14th - 17th Jun 2018 (Summit) Venue: HKBU (TBC) Targeted Audience: Local F6 High school Students

ABOUT YS18

Theme: Change for a Reason, Lead for a Difference Through the chosen SDGs, we hope to shape Hong Kong youths into changemakers who are aware, willing, and capable to lead Hong Kong to a be\er future.

In the 21st century, science, technology, engineering, and mathema?cs (STEM) have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalisa?on and a knowledge-based economy. As the future pillars of HK, HK youths have to be part of the STEM educa?on movement, to prepare themselves to be the "STEM" of HK's future.

In the midst of growing misunderstandings between different stakeholders, we stand s?ll in advoca?ng the importance of cross-cultural understanding. We, HK youths, act as a bridge between different voices in society, bringing people with dis?nct opinions, backgrounds, and cultures together. We are here to eliminate cultural inequality, which makes us unite in diversity. In Hong Kong, economic, poli?cal, environmental, and social problems are arising these years. We need a ‘smart’ Hong Kong that learns, adapts and innovates and thereby responds more effec?vely and promptly to changing circumstances by improving the intelligence of the city. Ul?mately, we wish to see HK as a city that empowers the individual to be selfsufficient in his or her environment – to meet both their individual and collec?ve needs – in a way that consumes the least resources.
