WE’VE GOT NO LIMIT
President’s Words “Leaders are born but leaders can also be made” – Joe Grano- It is upon the latter that AIESEC as an organization was formed and over the last 60 years, our commitment to developing strong leadership through exchange internships all geared towards making a better society has never grown weak. Today, AIESEC LEGON also continues this task. Beginning with some raised standards set by our predecessors among some setbacks, the future seemed challenging trying to maintain these standards while improving on others. The first few weeks of the first quarter primarily began with planning for the year where the goal “To be a vibrant, sustained and strategically positioned organization that is committed to quality member, leadership and exchange experiences” was set in stone. To a larger extent, this goal could not be made possible without the support of our stakes including members, our interns, alumni, our partners and the external environment. To set the foundations right, our first LEAD initiative dabbed “Learn to Lead” for leaders was held to equip them with the right mentality and tools to serve strongly not just in the interest of the organization but in their personal development as well. This received a good patronage and promised a positive delivery from the leaders in the year. Again, a lot of focus was channeled into reviving as well as strengthening relationships with most of our partners. The previous year ended with a lot of partnerships hanging and with a goal of being sustained, there was the strong need to renew and retain almost all our partnerships while raising new ones. Currently, over 70% have been retained while a relative 65% have been newly raised; a move in the right direction. Exchange being the core of our operations has also received its fair share in the first quarter. A total of 75 has been hit and still counting with a major receipt from Asia and Europe. This number even suggests something more for Projects and for the last quarter, all projects including ASK, SWITCH, AFRITOUR, YES and GO GREEN AND GLOBAL have had their takes and works with some interns. Experiences and memories left behind by these interns always keep us reminded of our relevance in our societies and the need to keep doing what we do. With a strong foundation set for the first quarter, we look forward to even better quarters with the strength and support of an abled team and theme – “THE BEST YOU, A BETTER US”.
PORTFOLIOS TALENT MANAGEMENT The talent management portfolio has been one of the most active portfolios of the first quarter. With activities ranging from training sessions (LEARN TO LEAD) which was designed to train the various team leaders in the organization. There was also an operation to Resuscitate the inactive members of the organization dubbed OPERATION RESURRECT . Recruitment is almost over, and there have been massive promotion and publicity. This included three radio interviews with Radio Univers, Choice FM and Meridian FM. There was also an info session with an encouraging turn-up . Also, the interview and selection has been done with the Local Training and Motivation Seminar on the way.

Projects updates AFRITOUR
GO GREEN AND GLOBAL This is a new project that was introduced to replace the Global village Project. For that matter, the project is still in the early stage, trying to get the foundations right. The project is in its 1st-2nd phase. they have done considerable work in raising schools to work with. They will be working with our old schools as well as new ones that they will soon raise.
AIESEC GHANA DINNER AND AWARDS AIESEC Ghana organized a dinner and awards night to appreciate deserving LCs and members who gave off their best during the 2012/2013 AIESEC year. AIESEC Legon was fully represented at this event with some EBs, members and interns. At the end of the event, the LC was awarded the OVERRALL EXCELLENCE AWARD. We also managed to take away a couple of other awards including: The most FINANCIALLY SUSTAINED LC and TXP champions.
The GO WEST AFRICA CAMPAIGN has started. The campaign is intended to encourage oGCDP to the AIESEC counlast week of November.
