JULY 6TH 2018 - AUGUST 31ST 2018
Bangka Belitung Island is a new province in Indonesia, previously a part of South Sumatra Province. It is separated from South Sumatra since 2000. The province comprises two main islands, Bangka and Belitung, and several smaller ones. The mining sector was a superior sector in Bangka Belitung Province. However, mining source potential has been decreased by its reserve and production level. It is seen from the contribution of the mining sector to the PDRB (Gross Regional Domestic Product) for the last few years that been decrease wherein 2000 it is only 15.86% and in 2015 it is only 13.29%.Â
The government realizes that Bangka Belitung Islands Province cannot rely on the mining sector in the future. One of regional potential made as the alternative of the mining sector is tourism sector. Bangka-Belitung Islands have numerous beautiful beaches and several small islands. Unfortunately, the human resources in Bangka Belitung don't have enough capacities to develop the business of Bangka tourism potential. Therefore, the government desires an improvement by this project.

TESTIMONIALS Wonderful Maluku has been one of the most memorable experiences that I will cherish for a lifetime! Indonesia is definitely wonderful in all its elements. The project was a great GCP for AIESEC whereas a team of 30 interns we were truly able to leave a tangible impact on the villages through all the pillars, of English, Entrepreneurship, Tourism and a project that we saw was needed Waste Management Education! After 4 years of being through all the phases of AIESEC on a national level, it was the perfect closure! Elizabeth Pulo (Malta) Product Innovation Intern Wonderful Maluku Project 2017 Last year I volunteered in a small village on one of the Maluku Islands. Before that, I always thought that I knew who I was, that teamwork was not for me and that life means being lived. This experience has taught me that I couldn't be any more wrong. That I will never stop learning about who I am. That together all challenges can be faced. And that life means living.
