Fun in AHPLA Classes, P&G G.O.!

Putting English into Action at AON

Many, many congratulations to Liliam from P&G (G.O.) who has just graduated from her Pre-Intermediate English program. Here she is, pictured below right, having fun as her English classes continue with her teacher Ryan and her new class-mate Brenda Pineda on the left. Check out the girls´ video on the AHPLA Facebook blog and YoutTube account.

Aon students in Isabella´s class have all been working hard to put their English into action in the business context by working on giving presentations. Pictured above in action is Kenia Vite. As Isabella says “The goal of these presentations was to help the students feel more comfortable speaking in English about their particular field of expertise as well as expand their vocabulary”.

Even in the most Basic of classes, business topics useful in the world of work are being addressed - with a special focus on Insurance. As a special ‘treat’ for students following the AAA Program they are about to have a two week review of work covered so far (from Oct. 8th – Oct. 18th ) followed by Progress Achievement tests (from Oct. 22nd – Nov. 6th ). Indumex rates AHPLA Monterrey service

It is with great pleasure that we inform the AHPLA community of an important survey carried out with Pedroluiz Ibarra at Indumex. Although AHPLA’s customer service has hit top marks, there is still some room for improvement in terms of style. Our team will focus on developing a glossary for Indumex in order to use its specific jargon. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Pedroluiz for relying on AHPLA’s translation services. AHPLA is willing to adopt Indumex’s motto: It’s time to grow, naturally.

Another step towards ISO 9001:2008

We’re moving forward! As we continue with our process aimed at getting the ISO 9001:2008 quality certification, José Luis Fonseca has completed a 24-hour training which will enable AHPLA to understand all the intricasies of this international standard. Along with this quality strategy arose the need to make use of other quality tools. Mike Anaya and Peter Rul have recently taken the 5 S’s course. They will be disseminating the acquired knowledge with the rest of the AHPLA office team. Karen is also participating and leading the implementation of the 5 S’s at AHPLA. We’re moving on to ISO 9001:2008!

Happy International Translation Day! We wish all the AHPLA Interpreters & Translators and of course all the community of translators around the globe the very best on their day! Translation Day is held in memory of the Bible translator, patron of translators: St. Jerome who was commissioned by Pope Damasus I in 382 A.D. to revise the old Latin Translations to make it accesible in language ordinary people could read. Jerome’s revised texts ultimately became the definitive and officially promulgated Latin version of the Holy Bible in the Catholic Church. St. Jerome was fluent in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, with knowledge of Aramaic, Arabic, and Syriac. International Translation Day is celebrated every year on September 30th on the feast of St. Jerome. The day was officially instituted by Unesco upon the suggestion of the International Federation of Translators (FIT). Feliz dia dos tradutores! Ahpla lhes deseja que vocês passem um bonito dia, hoje e sempre. ¡Felicidades a los traductores e intérpretes de AHPLA!
