Concept Statement: We as interior designers and builders can easily recognize the importance of kitchens to our clients. Indeed, The kitchen is a very vital space in the home. Since it plays an important role where almost all the family members congregate there; therefore, the kitchen space must function as a cooking area and the hub of family activity, as well. Nowadays, kitchens that are open to the living room and breakfast area are very common among our homes. Although the countless number of an exciting and ever-expanding selection of cabinets, countertops, appliances, and more, it’s the overall layout and traffic flow of the kitchen that prove how successful is the kitchen to meet the needs. In my kitchen design, I decided to mix between the cabinets and the shelves in different part of the part to create an interesting look. Also I found out that the serving window that opens directly to the formal dining area would be very efficient and helpful. Adding a small dining table is a good idea that gathers the family during food time and at the same time open to the living space. To sum up kitchen is very essential space that have to meet the users need and at the same time has to fulfill the code.

Having another access near the apartment access door was essential in this kitchen, as the kitchens main access is through the reception and the dining room. That is why another access was provided so one can access the utilitarian space without going through the social zone. Egress was also a consideration when planning these spaces.

Introduction: My internship experience was accomplished at A-group for construction in 2010. A-group is a company established in 1989 which specializes in constructing of housing projects In this project, we designed a master plan by first producing a physical model, which includes 5 residential apartments prototypes in addition to a commercial section. Each individual was responsible for resolving the plan of each prototype. My prototype as shown in the image to the right ,included turn-key design stages: 1-Reinforcement of slab: a.Reinforcement was added to the previous made formwork to be ready for the concrete to be poured. b.The concrete mix was prepared on the site according to the required specification. c.The concrete was poured in the formworks. 2-Masonry Works: a. The use of the building panel to locate and distribute the walls. b. The wall building process began with any chosen wall . Other wall locations were then determined; however, they may not start from a point in the middle of the building in order to achieve uniformity of work and to avoid distraction. c. Use of a measuring tape was used to determine the dimensions of walls and lines of the beams. d. A string was utilized to adjust the horizontal and the vertical alignment and in order to maintain the regularity of the brick uniformity. e. After the completion of the construction of the walls to the ceiling, the compaction of the entire wall of solid brick at the bathroom and the kitchen, and compact dumped bricks in the rest of the rooms. 3- False ceiling: a) Spread the reinforcement according to the required construction. c) Add reinforcement to the wire and then add Gypsum. d) The electrical engineer then added the spot lights.
