At Under One Sky last month revellers had their say on the future of Wealdstone, Station Road and Harrow Town Centre the Heart of Harrow. The council is producing an exciting new plan to revitalise the area over the next 15 years and wants residents, businesses and developers to be involved in shaping it.

Working with planning experts and the community, the council has drawn up four different options for revitalising the area and throughout May and June, asked residents, businesses and developers what they thought of them.

This plan will create a vision and identity for the Heart of Harrow and help attract investment to create new jobs, improve shopping and leisure facilities, and build new homes.

At Under One Sky, planning officers and experts from Masterplanning Experts East explained the Heart of Harrow work to residents in more detail.

The Mayor of London sets targets for how many new homes must be built in the borough every year, and this plan will help us to deliver them.

They also invited people to tell us what they wanted to see in the area over the next 15 years, from new homes and businesses to more leisure activities, community facilities or shops and cafes.

Matthew Vel, with his son Johnathan, five “For me it is about green spaces and making sure they are factored in. I would like to see thought given to that.”

Iris Kavanagh, Stanmore “I want them to put the ‘Katie’ statue back at St Ann’s. That should never have been moved.”

Sabina and Fawzi Zuberi, North Harrow “Parking and traffic management needs to be addressed in the town centre. We would like to see the council get a handle on that in any future plan.”
