By Casyn Larman, Mulhall-Orlando FFA Reporter As the school year is coming to a close, the Mulhall-Orlando FFA Chapter is going out with a bang! The M-O FFA Chapter has been competing at a multitude of events so far and has been very successful. The chapter has been competing in Public Speaking, Agriscience Presentations, and Career Development Events In Public Speaking at PI, which is the first contest on the road to state. M-O had Baylee Brown place 1st in Extemporaneous Speech and 3rd in Natural Resources Speech. KayLea Taylor was 1st in Agribusiness Speech, and Casyn Larman was 2nd in Animal Science Speech. All three of them qualified for districts the following week. At districts, Casyn was 2nd in Animal Science Speech. Also, Baylee placed 4th and 5th in Extemporaneous Speech and Natural Resources Speech. Casyn then moved on to the State FFA Speech Contest and placed top 10 in the State with his Animal Science Speech. The M-O FFA had Hanna Schmidt and Casyn Larman represented the chapter in Agriscience presentation. Hanna placed 1st in her division at the state competition. She now has the chance to move on to compete at the National FFA Convention if her board passes further review. Casyn was 3rd in his division with his board over Organic vs. Non-Organic Wheat. Last but most certainly not least, the M-O FFA has competed at multiple CDE competitions. Izayah McKinney, Brock Aldridge, and Rachel Martinez were 5th place team in Farm Business Management at Connors State College. Izayah was awarded for being 4th High Individual at the competition as well. At the State CDE Competition, the FFA Chapter’s Livestock Judging Team consisting of Callen Oldenburg, Baylee Brown, KayLea Taylor, and Daegan Pool were 4th. Baylee took home top honors in the individual competition placing 1st overall. Congratulations to all the outstanding competitors from the M-O FFA whom have continued to compete and excel throughout the year!
