Alex Newburg Product Design Portfolio
I am a 21-year-old designer living in Bristol, England. I study Product Design Technology at the University of the West of England and I have just finished my second year of study. I have a strong passion for good design and I live and breath what I do. I bring that obsession into every project I work on, and I feel that this shines through in my work. Outside of design my other interests include; digital and film photography, scuba diving, cycling, travelling and coffee.
Shaving Brush for Brewdog Design for brand project
For a 2nd year design studio project, we were asked to create a product for a brand that projected their visual language. As a group, we analysed the brand, focusing on the brand identity, colours and graphics used, along with materials, textures, form and general characteristics. The brand that we chose to analyse was Brewdog, a UK based craft-beer company. I decided to create a shaving brush for Brewdog as I felt like it was a product that fit with the Brewdog.

Research Based Project Medical Design research project.
For this project, we conducted primary and secondary research into issues that appear in the medical field. I decided to look into issues that Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technitians experience in a typical working day. After undertaking extensive research into problems faced by paramedics I came across a very specific issue. When removing a patient from a dangerous situation quickly there is no way to specifically secure the c-spine and prevent damage. I decided to focus on this issue.

Design work done for DesignWest, an in-house design studio at UWE Bristol.
During my first year at university I was employed by DesignWest, an in-house design consultancy based at UWE Bristol. I was hired as part of a team of students. Our goal was to organize and design several components of the 2017 graduate show. Our main focuses included; a floorplan and layout for the main entry room, as well as a map, which showed where independent studios were based within the university, and the main contacts for those studios.
Designed for the 2017 graduate show on behalf of DesignWest
One of the tasks for DesignWest was to create a 3D Map displaying the locations of various inhouse studios around campus.
