Her EPDs rank in the Top 5% of the Brahman breed for milk, carcass weight, REA; Top 10% for tenderness, and top 20% of the entire Brahman breed for yearling weight. Miss V8 597/6 is one of the gentlest cows in the sale with a picture perfect udder. Her sire, Mr. V8 923/5, was one of the tightest sheaths son of +JDH Mr. Charley Manwo 590/6. He sold to Brazil for $25,000 and did an outstanding job for the Carvallo Family. He should have - it was bred in him to be a success. His dam, +Miss V8 484/4, was a prolific ET donor for our ranch, as was her dam +Miss V8 287/3. The 2 donors produced many outstanding calves for us as well as donor females. This female comes from a long line of donors - in her four generation pedigree, all her female ancestors have been donor cows. All of them. This cow exemplifies our philosophy of breeding great cow families and stacking outstanding females. Her maternal grandsire, +Mr. V8 189/4, is recognized throughout the Brahman world as a sire of outstanding females.Study the EPD’s on this female. She ranks in the top 20% of the breed in 7 different traits. For milk , carcass weight, and REA she ranks in the top 5%!

This outstanding May heifer, sired by Mr. V8 977/6 is proof of 597’s production and milking ability. Pictured at only 3 months, there won’t be many females sell this year with her quality. BARZEE’S 851/3 Sire of Calf at Side

Full sister to 442

Sells with a heifer calf at side, Miss V8 31/8, sired by Barzee’s 851/3 DOB: 2/25/14 BW: 62 lbs. Exposed back to Mr. V8 675/6 A young four year old female that is a full sister to the #1 yearling weight bull and #2 weaning weight bull in the breed, Mr. V8 442/6. This female has an ideal udder and is an excellent milker. She is a +JDH Karu Manso 800 daughter out of Miss V8 208/6, who is a full sister to one of our great donors and former World Brahman Congress Champion +Miss V8 464/6. The maternal grandam, +Miss V8 188/5, has produced as many Houston champions as any cow in the breed. Miss V8 392/7 features 9 Register of Renown ancestors and 4 donors for V8 Ranch. She also has 3 bulls that were Houston champions in her pedigree. This young cow definitely needs to be put in a donor program. She ranks in the top 1% in 5 EPD measurements, in the top 5% in 2 others. Her full brother, Mr. V8 442/6, also has been recognized for his growth performance but more importantly his superior carcass qualities. Study this females EPD’s. If her numbers don’t impress you, you are hard to impress. She sells with a top, gentle, light birth weight heifer sired by Barzee’s 851/3 a good light birth weight outcross bull we used last summer. From a temperament standpoint, this cow is not for everyone. She is no problem to handle when worked with other cattle in the pen or to be out in the pasture, BUT, when she calves she can be a very protective mother. Fortunately, she has an ideal udder and very small evenly placed teats. In our continuing and committed effort to be truthful on the cattle we sell we wanted to give you the facts on the cow. Great cow; can be a tad excitable. 3

Sells with a bull calf at side, Mr. V8 677/7, sired by Mr. V8 675/6. DOB: 5/25/14 BW: 89 lbs. Exposed back to Mr. V8 675/6

A former show cow for the ranch whose dam and maternal grandam were both Houston International Grand Champion females! This cow is very gentle and can still be set up in the pasture with a show stick. She is a big, deep bodied impressive cow. Cow family wise, there aren’t many bred this well. The Avery daughters make tremendous mothers and are very fertile and productive. If you study all the sires in the cow’s pedigree you will note that all are known as sires of good productive brood cows. 11 of her ancestors are Register of Renown animals and both grandsires are former Houston Grand champion bulls – Liberty and 901/4. This cow will be a pleasure to own. She has beautiful phenotype, a great disposition, and a wonderful pedigree, plus impressive EPD’s. Her full sister in the sale, Miss V8 129/7, is also the same exact type cow, only a smaller version. An interesting note on these two full sisters, is the maternal great grandam, +Lady Bevo 910/1. This is a female bred by Herman Beville from Bushnell, Florida that was solid black in pigment. In 1980, Mr. Beville turned Sloan loose in his cow herd and allowed him to pick his top 10 cows and his top 10 yearling heifers. Sloan flew to Florida and Marcus Shackleford picked him up and took him to the Beville Ranch. Mr. Beville had a large herd of cattle (300 plus) and he and Marcus were great friends and Marcus really knew the Beville cattle. Sloan and Marcus considered the 910/1 heifer the best heifer Mr. Beville had born in 1979, maybe one of his best ever. She came back to Texas and was a tremendous ET donor that was very fertile and produced many great females for us including the International Champion +Miss V8 165/4. Many of the great cows that have walked the pasture of V8 trace back to this one cow. Ask Marcus about this cow (and also the whole trip as he and Sloan had a great time with many stories!) This cow can become a powerful donor for her new owner. Young and powerful. 4

This young cow has a beautiful udder and clean underline. Being an Avery daughter, she could continue to be a very productive and functional cow that is moderate in frame and should be an easy keeper. A trouble free type female. Study the footnotes on lot 3 and the EPD’s as well. This female actually has 4 measurable traits in which she ranks in the top 30% for the breed, with retail product ranking in the 5% of the entire Brahman breed. She sells with a really nice +Mr. V8 380/6 bull calf that is a good calf with an actual birth weight of 75 lbs. The 380 – Avery cross has worked very well for V8 Ranch the last 5 years. Lots 3 and 4 - Full sisters from a cow family of excellence...

+Miss V8 165/4

The +Miss V8 165/4 cow family represents excellence in V8 females. She is the 1993 International Grand Champion Female and one of the highest-valued Brahman females in the history of ABBA, with 1/2 interest selling to Nelson Ruesche of San Rafael Ranch for $100,000. +Miss V8 165/4, born in 1990, is a prime example of the many outstanding daughters produced by +Mr. V8 666/3 in the early to mid-1990s. These females were very powerful females that we often refer to as the kind of cows that are “herd bull makers.” While we would never under-value the importance of a great sire, we truly believe it’s the power of cow families that make the great ones. The dam of +Miss V8 165/4 is +Lady Bevo 910, who is from the Herman Beville herd. Our good friend Marcus Shackelford was extremely familiar with the Beville herd and he had identified 910 as the top heifer out of their herd. He and Sloan picked out the heifer and bought her to go to the V8 herd. 165 produced many notable offspring including +Miss V8 73/5, the 1997 International Grand Champion Female. Flushing +Miss V8 73/5 to Superstroke gave us the outstanding flushmates +Miss V8 38/6 and Mr. V8 730/5 “Tomcat.” Tomcat was purchased by Satterfield Ranch, and went on to be named 2004 International Grand Champion Bull. Another direct daughter of +Miss V8 165/4 is +Miss V8 780/5, the 2001 International Grand Champion Female. Another interesting descendant from this cow family is +KF Progeny’s Success 40/0, who is the foundation herd bull for Carolyn Falgout. Carolyn purchased this embryo from the San Rafael Ranch dispersal, and he has been the backbone of her program, including being named ABBA Show Bull of the Year in 2002 and 2003. Great cow families make the difference, and lots 3 and 4 represent the best of the best.

This cow family was featured in our 2013 and 2014 herd reference and Brahman historians know this cow family is one that has been a top bloodline at V8 for well over 15 years. This cow has produced several high averaging females that have sold and shown competitively in the junior show circuit. She was AI’d to +Mr. V8 380/6 this spring and then turned out with Mr. V8 675/6. When Charles palpated her he said, “she is definitely bred, but not sure if it was to the AI date or the very next natural heat”. 10

With Brandon and Rachel’s interest in red cattle, they have been striving to build a small, but elite herd of red Brahmans. Miss Red V8 70/8 is a product of that. She is an extremely feminine and attractive female that is structurally correct. She is sired by BB Bronson 299/3 (a top X-Ray 825 son). Bronson sired the Grand AND Reserve Grand Champion red bulls at the World Brahman Congress in Panama. After seeing the quality and uniformity of those two bulls, Brandon and Rachel bought semen on Bronson upon arrival home from Panama. Miss Red V8 70/8 is out of LB Lady Birdie Manso 830/3, who we purchased from Locke Division of JDH to start our red program. Lady Birdie 830/3 is sired by the National Champion +VL Rojo Bravo 6/125 and out of a full sister to LB Derringer Manso 953/3. We bought Lady Birdie, along with two of her daughters. The first calf she had while she was at V8 was Mr. Red V8 241/7, who is the reigning 2014 Reserve International Champion Red Bull, for Miki. Buford. Miss Red V8 70/8 has a very esteemed pedigree, with many notable animals, while at the same time being an outcross to many current red Brahman genetics. If you are looking for a quality red Brahman female that offers an outcross pedigree, here she is.

Pick of the V8 Ranch F1 Heifers

Sloan Williams’ F-1 herd is without a doubt one of the highest quality Brahman x Hereford F1 herds in existence. It is a closed herd from which he never sells. We constantly get calls from people asking for F1 females from Sloan’s herd, and those people are constantly let down because he just doesn’t sell his F1 heifers. In fact, he and Mollie keep every single F1 female produced to serve as replacements in their 1200 head commercial herd. We often joke around here that it would be easier to buy the best registered Brahman female on the ranch than it would be to try to buy one of Sloan’s precious F1 heifers. When the AJBA added a new F-1 heifer show at the All American, that call frequency from friends wanting to get into our F1 herd started expanding greatly. So as a new offering in our internet sale, we decided to offer Pick of The V8 Ranch F1 Heifers. We feel that this offering will be a sale highlight. If you are looking for a fancy F1 show heifer prospect, or even a potential donor for a Braford breeding up program, now is the chance. These females will be 1/2 Brahman and 1/2 Hereford. There are approximately 20 females that are already weaned (featured in video online) and approximately another 10 still on the cows. All females will be out of purebred Brahman cows and GKB Hereford bulls. Buy with confidence. These females are the cream of the crop.

SEMEN LOTS This will be the only semen to be offered on these bulls for the remainder of 2014. The bid price is per unit and the final purchase price will be your bid times the number of units selling. Each lot includes 5 AI certificates. Additional certificates are available for $250 each. Certificates will be released to the name of one buyer.

One of the greatest sires of modern Brahman cattle breeding. From the period of 2001-2006, Superstroke progeny ruled the Brahman breed in the United States and worldwide producing countless champions, donor females, and herd sires. A few of his lifetime highlights include being the undefeated Get-Of-Sire winner at Houston for 5 years (2002 to 2006). He boasts 10 Register of Renowns, 2 International Champions, 1 National Champion in his 3-generation pedigree. Sire of 2 International Grand Champion bulls and 2 International Grand Champion Females. Sire of 5 Register of Renown daughters. In 2013, Superstroke ranked #17 in the ABBA Register of Renown and ranked 20th on the list of most widely-used Brahman sires of all time. Buyer has the option to double the price and buy 10 units.

Always a favorite, 915 is the epitome of a American Brahman beef bull. A Superstroke son who is a full brother to Mr. V8 924/5, he was injured on the way to Dallas as a bull calf on the show string and never got to see much of the show ring. However the only time he was ever shown, he actually beat 924 in class, and 924 went on to be National Champion and Reserve International Champion. 915 is a beef bull with a huge hump, perfect American Brahman breed character, huge bone and a lot of muscle. His picture alone probably makes him one of the more widely recognized Brahman bulls of modern times.

The #1 trait leader for weaning weight and #2 trait leader for yearling weight in the current ABBA Sire Summary. 442 was a very popular show bull but ultimately got beat by his stall mate Mr. V8 463/6 at the National Show for National Grand Champion. He was bought by Windy Hill Ranch and went straight to work for them, so very little semen

was collected. 442 died unexpectedly and immediately after this we stopped all semen sales. His calves are outstanding in all regards. He is the sire of Mr. V8 259/7, the 2013 Reserve National Champion and current #2 high selling semen sire in volume for V8. He also sired Miss V8 694/7, also the 2013 Reserve National Champion Female. His dam is a daughter of +Miss V8 188/5 a great donor who has produced 2 International Grand Champion Females. His dam is also a full sister to our super donor +Miss V8 464/4. 442 is a long-bodied, clean sheathed beef machine. He is masculine, structurally correct, and has a huge top and hump. He breeds tremendous American Brahman breed character.

Another rare opportunity to have access to our most powerful young herd sires. Ocho Cinco is known throughout the Brahman world as a crowd favorite, Internet favorite, and barn favorite. He has a great daughter on the show circuit currently being shown by Mitchel SanMiguel (with guidance from Mike Navarro) who has been racking up the junior show championships this summer. Ocho Cinco is what we consider the top grey son of the Mexican import #JADL El Rey 110. He and his full sister, Miss V8 463/7 won back to back National Champion ET Produce of Dam. His mother is the cow that that many classify as one of our top females on the ranch…+Miss V8 410/6. This cow is simply amazing. We always focus on breeding herd bulls that come from the best cow families, and Ocho Cinco is one that has the conformation, disposition, pedigree and performance to be the #1 choice of any Brahman breeder.

Mr. V8 135/7 “The Butler” is a bull that we love for his balance, moderation, and muscle. He excelled in the show ring as a class winner at the 2012 National Brahman Show, and a class winner and Reserve Junior Champion at the 2012 Kickoff Classic. Mr. V8 135/7 very moderate framed, deep bodied, totally balanced, and very complete. He is structurally sound and very muscular, especially for a polled bull. Owned with Butler Polled Brahmans. Both owners used this bull heavily through AI and natural service with the first calves hitting the ground in spring 2014. We are very pleased and will continue to use this bull to move our polled programs forward. “The Butler” was also our top selling semen sire to our Australian clients in the spring of 2014.

PROXY BIDDING - If you are unable to be at the sale during the close out, we recommend using the Proxy Bidding feature. This is similar to a “Max Bid” in eBay. Your proxy bid is 100% confidential. FEEDING & SHOWING TERMS: We pride ourselves in the professional way we care for and exhibit your purchases. Here at V8, we employ some of the best herdsmen in the business at the ranch and at shows. We spare no expenses in caring for your cattle to ensure your success. The charges we bill are not designed for us to make money, but rather to cover our expenses so that we can continue to offer the best services to you.

For example, in our first online sale, after the sale one of our buyers told us he had placed a proxy bid for $15,000 on a show heifer prospect because he had to go to his son’s football game. He put in his proxy bid and left. When the auction closed, he had purchased the heifer for $6000, because no one else bid against him. This is an excellent feature to use with assurance and privacy.

Cattle will be provided care and feed at no cost until October 10, 2014. After that date, feed costs will be billed at the rate of $5/per head per day in the pasture or $12/day in the V8 Show Barn. Should you wish to exhibit one of your new purchases in our showstring, each animal will be charged $100/day while attending shows with V8. This will cover all expenses while at the show. All animals must be insured while in our care/possession. Any veterinary expense will be the owners obligation. All accounts will be billed monthly. Feed charges must be paid in full when the animal is picked up. HEALTH: Each animal is eligible for a state approved health certificate for interstate shipment. Buyers should make themselves aware of the health requirements for their respective states. Animals have been provided the utmost care, nutrition, and vaccinations under the guidance of our ranch veterinarian. All animals are assumed to be sound and healthy at sale time.
