“We had every intention to win this basketball game. Tonight, we left our best game on the floor. We gave people around the country a new team and new household name to root for. It’s time to spread it around.” - Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair
Event: NCAA Elite Eight, Ford Center, Oklahoma City, Okla., 4/1/08
Texas A&M was eight points shy of its first-ever NCAA Final Four with a close 53-45 loss to topseeded Tennessee in the Oklahoma City Regional Final on April 1, 2008. It was the deepest postseason run by an Aggie squad in 34 all-time seasons of women’s basketball at A&M. Senior A’Quonesia Franklin and junior Takia Starks were both named to the NCAA Oklahoma City All-Regional Team and in the following weeks, garnered Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention honors.
