The Texas A&M athletic department reached its goal of $35,000 raised from the festivities surrounding its second-annual “Beat The Hell Outta Breast Cancer“ campaign. A&M donated money raised from its breast cancer awareness event to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Additionally, Texas A&M women’s basketball head coach Gary Blair donated $3,245 to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund as he pledged $5 for every A&M student in attendance at the team’s game against Texas Tech on Feb. 17, 2008. The Aggies donned specially-made pink uniforms provided by adidas for its nationally-televised “Think Pink“ game on ESPN2. A&M partnered with corporate sponsors Chevron, The College Station Medical Center, adidas, HEB and Subway and sold the ever popular $5 pink T-shirts through the efforts of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
