“I’ll remember this Senior Class for the rest of my life. They believed in us. They were all recruited by established programs, but they wanted to build the foundation here and be a part of something special.” - Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair
Event: Senior Night, Reed Arena, Texas A&M University, 3/6/08
The Texas A&M women’s basketball program will continue to flourish on the national scene due in part to the belief of five seniors who were the cornerstone of the Aggies’ turnaround from the depths of the Big 12 Conference to an annual contender in the league and in the nation. It was just four years ago, that Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair and his staff signed their first recruiting class which would share in their vision of rebuilding and revitalizing a championship program in College Station. No other senior class accomplished as many milestones in a four-year span as the Class of ’08 comprised of Morenike Atunrase, A’Quonesia Franklin, Patrice Reado, Katy Pounds and LaToya Gulley. They will go down in school history as one of the greatest squads ever to don the Maroon and White.
