A Calgary native, with over 15 years experience in private practice as an orthodontist.

At Daher Orthodontics, we believe collaboration is essential to complete patient care. We partner with our referring dentists to craft individual, comprehensive treatment plans for each patient. We are excited to introduce our new orthodontist, Dr. Alexis David, who shares our passion for collaboration.

Dr. David is a certified orthodontic specialist. He loves what he does and enjoys working with patients to help transform their smile and improve their overall well-being. He enjoys seeing his patients grow, following families as they change over time and sharing their experiences as they pass through key milestones in life.

Dr. David lived in Calgary for the first 25 years of his life, where he graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology, and later completing a Master of Science in Biochemistry, also at U of C. He went on to complete dental school (earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Followed by orthodontic specialty training (obtaining a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and another Master of Science degree) at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

From there, Dr. David moved to Vancouver Island where he was in private practice for 15 years.

His training has also allowed him to provide orthodontic treatment to underserved communities in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. When he is not practicing, he can be found spending time with his three daughters, teaching them how to downhill ski.

He is excited to be back in the familiar surroundings of the prairies, foothills and, rocky mountains. He looks forward to working with Dr. Daher and welcoming the patients of Daher Orthodontics for years to come.

SERVICES WE OFFER | INVISALIGN® At Daher Orthodontics in Calgary, we are a provider of Invisalign® clear aligners for patients interested in straightening their teeth without disrupting their life.

HOW INVISALIGN® WORKS Invisalign® uses a series of removable, clear plastic aligners to help patients achieve a straighter smile. Invisalign® does not use fixed braces or brackets, and is a discreet treatment option for orthodontic care.

The plastic custom-created Invisalign® retainers (called “aligners”), similar in appearance to custom whitening trays, are used to sequentially move your teeth into the correct position.

SERVICES | BRACES These Aren’t Your Parents’ Braces.

Gone are the days of heavy headgear and large, cumbersome brackets. Today’s braces are streamlined, comfortable and low profile. In some cases, they’re nearly invisible, making them a truly viable option for adults and teens who are concerned about aesthetics.

CLEAR (CERAMIC) BRACES: Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and therefore are less visible on your teeth than metal braces. They are used mainly for older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns.

While they are visually less prominent, they require more attention to oral hygiene because ceramic braces are larger and more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

SERVICES WE OFFER | CHILDREN’S ORTHODONTICS Early Orthodontic Intervention for Children At Daher Orthodontics in Calgary, we love working with children! We offer orthodontic services for children in the Downtown and Marlborough communities of Calgary. We recommend that your child see an orthodontist by the age of 7 to ensure their facial structure is developing as it should.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child be screened by an orthodontist by the age of seven. At seven, their jaw is still developing, but it is already possible to observe the relationship between their teeth and jaw.

EARLY TREATMENT Early treatment means we are able to identify issues, such as teeth crowding or lower jaw deviations. An early consultation does not mean that we will recommend immediate treatment or treatment at all! Instead, we will provide you with a dental “road map” for your child to help ensure their smile develops as it should.

If we recommend early orthodontic treatment, sometimes called Phase I treatment, it is often less invasive then waiting until your child is in their early teens.

When your child is young, they are still growing and developing, it is possible to modify their jaw development, which may help avoid the need for surgery later in your child’s development.

LESS INVASIVE By addressing mouth crowding and allowing the jaws to develop, your orthodontist can often eliminate the need for tooth extractions later in your child’s development.

This can also help address some of the underlying causes of orthodontic problems that develop later in life, such as a dependency to breathe through the mouth instead of the nose, thumbsucking, and dental decay.

TREATMENT LENGTH Phase I treatment typically lasts up to 9 months, during this time a retainer is worn until their permanent adult teeth come in. Treatment takes place while your child still has their baby teeth present. After the permanent teeth have come in, we can determine if Phase II treatment is needed.

Most children require a second phase of treatment, but Phase II treatment is considerably shorter and less invasive if your child benefits from early Phase I treatment.

ACCELERATE YOUR TREATMENT WITH ORTHOPULSE OrthoPulse works by inserting a mouthpiece around your braces or clear aligners. We recommend that you wear the device for 20 minutes every day. OrthoPulse uses light-emitting ‘bone healing’ arrays to encourage tooth movement and assists in bone remodelling to aid in your orthodontic treatment. This application of light also helps the body to heal and reduce pain and inflammation.
