►RTNDA Canada Honors the Best in Radio and Television◄

Congratulations to AM800 CKLW Detroit/Windsor Members! For an impressive sixth straight year the RadioTelevision News Directors’ Association of Canada (RTNDA) has presented AM800 CKLW Detroit/Windsor with the Byron MacGregor Award for the Best Newscast in a medium market - Central Region. (MacGregor, a legend in the business in the United States and Canada, was a longtime AFTRA Detroit member.)

►Detroit Freelance Work & Union Franchised Talent Agents◄

When an agency is franchised by AFTRA, it agrees to use one of the Standard AFTRA Exclusive Agency Agreements when signing performers for exclusive representation. This means members receive benefits and protections in AFTRA Standard Contracts with franchised agents that others may not find in agency agreements with non-franchised agents. There are more than 350 talent agents who are signed AFTRA Franchised Agents and we’d just like to make sure you are aware of which agents are Detroit union franchised agents: CHARLIE’S TALENT AGENCY, THE I GROUP, LLC, PRODUCTIONS PLUS — THE TALENT SHOP, and REPUBLIC TALENT CORPORATION. AFTRA has received increasing reports of non-AFTRA franchised agents representing broadcasters, and that some of these non-AFTRA agents are offering terms in their ―non-AFTRA contracts‖ that are very problematic. Click here to learn more about the potential dangers of signing with an agent that is not franchised under AFTRA’s Rule 12C.
