Audio and Video Training at the KMRC So you know about the KMRC and all that it has to offer, right? The computers, schmooze room, lounge area and the script/tape library are all pretty easy to use and available to any member while the KMRC is open. To use the video studio and audio studio, you must attend a training class. This is great equipment. We just want to make sure you know how to use it properly. Training is offered on the first Wednesday of the month, from 5 to 9 p.m. The class covers the basics of using Sound Forge and basic recording techniques in the audio studio and a brief introduction to the video studio. A more advanced video studio class is also offered. Please stop by, call the AFTRA/SAG office at (312) 573-8081 or email Latisha Wagner at lwagner@aftra.com to sign-up. Reservations are required. Additional times may be available by prior arrangement. A variety of other training sessions and seminars are available from time to time and are announced in The Activator and on the hotline at (312) 867-3710. You must be a member of AFTRA, SAG or AEA to use the center. The KMRC is open: Monday, Tuesday and Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Don't forget, the KMRC observes all AFTRA and SAG holidays. Freelance Tidbit Hey AFTRA and SAG members: Is your passport current? You never know when you might be booked for work out of the country. Make sure your passport is up to date so you are ready to go! Surf the Internet, Check Your Work With the increase in use of commercials and industrials on the Internet, members may want to take a look at the websites of products/industrials in which they have appeared - or voiced. Take a look at the sites to verify that your work is being used in accordance with your permission and/or payment received. If you find a problem, contact your agent so they can initiate the collection process. If the commercial/industrial is downloadable, it's very helpful to take a minute to download. Then you will also have something for your personal demo or your agency's demo. Don't forget, all AFTRA and SAG members have free high-speed Internet access at the Kaufherr Members Resource Center. The KMRC is open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and until 5 on Monday and Friday. Call (312) 573-8081 for more information.
