Africa Harvest was founded in 2002 by Dr Florence Wambugu, a well-known Kenyan scientist. It was incorporated in USA as a non-profit foundation. Its headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya, and it has regional offices in Johannesburg and Washington DC. The foundation promotes the use of science and technology to fight poverty, hunger and malnutrition by increasing agricultural yields and incomes. Africa Harvest works in partnership with many other organizations; these include national, regional, pan-African and international agricultural research organizations. Africa Harvest particularly likes to work at the grassroots level, where it has the best opportunity to improve the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities.
