Creating Healthy Boundaries
Boundaries are an essential part of maintaining emotional wellbeing, yet many people struggle to set and maintain them. From a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) perspective, boundaries are not about shutting people out, they are about creating a safe, balanced space where we can function at our best.
Our brains are constantly scanning for threat or safety. When boundaries are unclear or repeatedly crossed, the primitive part of the brain (often referred to as the “fight, flight, or freeze” system) can become activated. This is because, without boundaries, the brain may interpret situations as unpredictable or overwhelming. Over time, this can lead to increased stress, anxiety, irritability, or even burnout.
In contrast, when we begin to establish clear and consistent boundaries, we send a powerful message to the brain: we are safe, in control, and capable. This allows the more rational, intellectual part of the brain to engage. From this place, we can think clearly, make decisions confidently, and respond rather than react.
So, how do we start putting boundaries in place?
The first step is awareness. Notice where you feel discomfort, resentment, or tension in your life. These feelings are not failures, they are signals. In SFH, we view these as helpful indicators that something needs adjusting. For example, feeling overwhelmed after saying “yes” too often may highlight a need to protect your time and energy.
The next step is clarity. Ask yourself: What do I need in this situation to feel calmer, more balanced, or more in control? The brain responds well to clear, simple goals. Rather than focusing on what you want to avoid, gently shift your attention to what you want more of - perhaps more time, respect, space, or support.
Once you are clear, communication becomes key. Setting boundaries does not require confrontation or conflict. It
can be calm, respectful, and firm. For example, saying “I’m not available for that right now” or “I need some time to focus on my priorities” is enough. The brain benefits from this kind of consistency, it learns that you are taking care of yourself, which reinforces a sense of safety.
Emotionally, setting boundaries can feel uncomfortable at first. You might experience guilt, worry about disappointing others, or fear of rejection. This is completely normal. The brain is wired to seek approval and belonging, so any change in behaviour can feel like a risk. However, with repetition, the brain adapts. What initially feels difficult begins to feel natural and empowering.
It is also important to recognise and celebrate small successes. Each time you set a boundary, no matter how small, you are strengthening new neural pathways. In SFH, we focus on these positives, what is working, what is improving, and what you want to continue building. This helps shift attention away from self-criticism and towards progress.
Over time, healthy boundaries lead to improved relationships, not damaged ones. When we are clear about our needs, others know where they stand. This reduces misunderstandings and builds mutual respect. Most importantly, it allows you to show up as your best self, calm, focused, and emotionally balanced.
Boundaries are not barriers, they are foundations. They support a healthier mind, a calmer nervous system, and a more fulfilling life. By working with the brain rather than against it, and by focusing on small, achievable steps, you can begin to create boundaries that truly serve you.
Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss how to put your own boundaries in place.

What Living in Alignment Means
In a world full of distractions, expectations, and constant comparison, the idea of “living in alignment” has become increasingly meaningful. It sounds simple, but in practice, it’s deeply personal and often challenging. Living in alignment isn’t about being perfect or happy all the time, it’s about creating consistency between who you are, what you value, and how you live your life.
At its core, alignment is when your inner world matches your outer actions. Your values and beliefs aren’t just ideas you admire, they guide your choices. When you’re aligned, you’re not performing for others or constantly secondguessing yourself. Instead, there’s a sense of steadiness, even when life feels uncertain.
Misalignment often shows up as friction. This could be burnout in a job that looks good on paper but feels unfulfilling, or discomfort in relationships where you can’t fully be yourself. Sometimes it’s subtler, a quiet sense that something isn’t quite right. Alignment, on the other hand, feels more like ease. Not because life is effortless, but because your energy isn’t being pulled in conflicting directions.
The starting point for alignment is self-awareness. It requires honest reflection and asking important questions: What do I truly value? What matters to me when no one else is watching? What kind of life feels meaningful, not just impressive? These questions don’t always have immediate answers, and that’s okay. Alignment isn’t a fixed destination, it evolves over time.
Understanding your values is only the first step. Living them is where the real challenge lies. It’s one thing to say you value honesty, creativity, or connection, and another to build your life around those principles. Alignment often requires courage. It might mean setting boundaries, changing direction, or letting go of roles that no longer fit. It asks you to choose authenticity over approval, which isn’t always comfortable.
Integrity plays a key role here. It’s not about being perfect or morally superior, but about being whole. When your thoughts, words, and actions are consistent, you build trust with yourself. Over time, this self-trust becomes a strong foundation, making decisions feel clearer and more grounded.
It’s also important to remember that alignment isn’t rigid. Life changes, and so do you. What felt right in the past may no longer resonate. Living in alignment means staying open and willing to adjust, noticing when something feels off and making small course corrections rather than holding onto outdated versions of yourself.
There’s a common belief that alignment leads to an easy life. In reality, it can sometimes make things harder, at least in the short term. Choosing what’s true for you instead of what’s expected can bring uncertainty or tension. But these challenges tend to feel more purposeful. Instead of the ongoing stress of ignoring your true self, you’re dealing with more honest and meaningful struggles.
Alignment also affects how you experience time and energy. When your actions reflect your values, even difficult tasks can feel worthwhile. You’re less likely to procrastinate or feel constantly drained. It doesn’t mean every moment is enjoyable, but there’s a stronger sense that your efforts have meaning.
Relationships often shift as well. As you become more aligned, you naturally connect with people and environments that support your authentic self. Some relationships deepen, while others fall away. This can be difficult, but it’s also a sign that you’re no longer forcing yourself into spaces that don’t fit.
Ultimately, living in alignment is an ongoing practice. It’s found in small, everyday choices, speaking honestly, respecting your limits, making time for what matters, and paying attention when something feels off. It’s less about dramatic change and more about consistent, intentional living.
In a world that often encourages external validation, alignment is about turning inward. It’s about listening to yourself and trusting what you hear. The path isn’t always straightforward, but it leads to something deeply valuable: a life that feels genuinely your own.

Time for “Fibre-Maxxing”
In an era where wellness is increasingly defined by balance rather than extremes, the conversation around nutrition is quietly but powerfully evolving. Nowhere is this more important than in women’s health, particularly when supporting conditions such as PCOS, where sustainable, realistic habits consistently outperform restrictive, short-lived approaches.
For a long time, protein has dominated the wellness narrative. From high-protein snacks to fortified everything, the message has been hard to miss. And while protein absolutely has its place, the spotlight is now beginning to shift and a new focus is emerging, one that feels both refreshingly simple and deeply impactful, fibre.
Dubbed “fibre-maxxing,” this growing trend is encouraging people to actively increase their daily fibre intake to support gut health, metabolic function, and overall wellbeing. It’s gaining traction not just because it’s effective, but because it addresses a real issue, most adults in the UK are only consuming around half of the recommended daily fibre intake.
So why does fibre matter so much?
Fibre plays a crucial role in stabilising blood sugar levels, something that is particularly important for hormonal health and managing PCOS. It slows down digestion, helping to avoid the energy spikes and crashes that can leave you feeling fatigued, irritable, and craving quick fixes. It also feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut, supporting a healthier microbiome, something now strongly linked to everything from digestion and immunity to mood and hormone regulation.
The good news is that improving your fibre intake doesn’t require a complete diet overhaul. In fact, the most effective approach is often the simplest, gently building it into your existing routine.
Start with breakfast. Instead of reaching for something refined or on-the-go, consider how you can add fibre. This might look like oats topped with berries and seeds,
or wholegrain toast with avocado. Small upgrades like this set the tone for more balanced energy throughout the day.
Think about adding, not restricting. One of the most powerful mindset shifts is moving away from “what should I cut out?” to “what can I add in?” Adding a portion of vegetables to lunch, including a handful of lentils in a soup, or sprinkling seeds over a salad are all simple ways to increase fibre without overcomplicating meals.
Variety is key. Different plant foods provide different types of fibre, each supporting the gut in unique ways. Aim to include a range of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds across the week. This isn’t about hitting a perfect target daily, it’s about building diversity over time.
And perhaps most importantly, gradually. Increasing fibre too quickly can lead to bloating or discomfort, so it’s important to build up slowly and ensure you’re drinking enough water to support digestion.
What makes this approach so appealing is that it feels achievable. There are no strict rules, no elimination lists, just a gentle rebalancing towards foods that support the body more effectively. It also fosters a more positive relationship with food, where meals become something that nourish and energise, rather than something to control.
In today’s modern definition of luxury, feeling well is the ultimate goal. It’s about having steady energy, balanced hormones, and a sense of ease around food. Fibre-rich meals, colourful, abundant, and satisfying, fit effortlessly into this picture.
Fibre-maxxing is shaping up to be more than just a trend. It’s a return to the fundamentals of good nutrition, offering a practical and sustainable way to support long-term health. And in a world that often overcomplicates wellness, that simplicity is perhaps its greatest strength.

April Alignment
I love spring! It has to be my favourite season of all. I take time to notice the glimmers of this beautiful seasonal shift... the morning bird song, dewy grass blades, tiny buds of blossom waiting to bloom, pastel colours and lighter clothing. I often head out on my morning walk phone free be more present, taking in the crisp air with mindful breaths...
What is a ‘glimmer’?
Glimmers are pockets of joy, moments of awe, sparking joy and inner calm.
So what does it mean to feel aligned in the month of April?
You may feel a subtle shift of energy as we head into a new season or quarter if you work in the corporate world. At the beginning of the year, I spoke to my clients that attended my vision board workshop about aligned action and the pressure is on in January for that ‘new year new me’, to shift so much attention to new goals and make big changes, when actually our natural and energetic cycle say we are not ready until now!
Taking a little bit of time to reflect on these journal prompts, grab a pen and paper or a trusty journal and ask yourself...
• How does the season of spring make you feel?
Think about 3 key words
• Do you feel like you have a spring in your step? If so what shifts can you make to your morning routine to set your day up strong.
• If you had made some goals at the beginning of the year, give yourself time to have a first quarter check in - are these goals still aligned to you? Now we are in the season of change what action are you taking (even tiny steps still count.)
Living in alignment can cover so many pillars of wellbeing. It is ok for you to outgrow habits, people and places that do not allow you to grow into the person you are becoming.
With that said, naturally we are wanting to expand in this month of seasonal shift – what helps you come back to yourself? Maybe it’s more movement, honouring an energetic shift in the body, being more socially connected – you may find this is when the social diary becomes a little busier for the year ahead , remembering to stay in alignment with saying YES.
With that said, as well as being a 1-1 therapist holding space for my wonderful clients to relax and restore during treatment, I also have the pleasure of holding wonderful collaborative day retreats, a safe, nurturing space for wellbeing.

Strawberries & Cream Tiramisu
Light, luscious, and beautifully indulgent with layers of juicy strawberries, and delicate sponge that come together for a fresh twist on a classic tiramisu.
Ingredients
2 x pack Del Monte Frozen British Strawberries (600g)
The juice of 1 lemon
2 tbsp caster sugar
For the vanilla whipped cream:
600ml double cream
50g caster sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
250g mascarpone
225g Savoiardi sponge fingers
400g fresh British strawberries, hulled and sliced
Method
Add Del Monte Frozen British Strawberries to a large saucepan along with the lemon juice, caster sugar. Cover the saucepan with a lid and place over a low-medium heat for about 10 minutes and allow the strawberries to thaw and eventually begin to simmer. Lower the heat and simmer the strawberries for a further 5 minutes, or until they are soft, then remove the saucepan from the heat and set aside to cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, whisk the cream with the caster sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form, then gently fold through the mascarpone. When the strawberries have cooled to room temperature, blitz in a high-speed blender until you have a smooth coulis.
Pour about 1cm of strawberry coulis into the base of a 25cm x 25cm dish, then lay the trifle sponges across the top, pushing them down into the coulis a little. Cover with more coulis and spoon over the whipped vanilla cream.
Top with a layer of sliced strawberries and repeat the process once more to fill the dish.
Cover and transfer to the fridge for at least 2 hours or, ideally, overnight for the sponge fingers to soften and soak up the coulis. Remove from the fridge about 20 minutes before serving.

KOIA, Greece
Sea-View Suites and Contemporary Greek Dining
KOIA All-Suite Wellbeing Resort reopens its doors at the end of this month, unveiling a significant expansion, introducing new sea-view rooms alongside new restaurant, Oregano Gastro Taverna.
The distinct, adult-only resort, KOIA, located in Kos, combines design, a strong sense of place and a philosophy rooted in the island’s Hippocratic heritage of wellbeing.
In June, KOIA will introduce 27 new rooms, all overlooking the sparkling Kerameikos Bay, and 19 of these rooms will feature private pools, offering guests stunning secluded terraces. The expansion will also include a new luxury twobedroom villa, offering the kind of privacy and quiet that feels increasingly rare on the island, designed for comfort and uninterrupted sea views.
“The new rooms and villa feel like the next step for KOIA,” said Theofilos Epsimos, Managing Director. “It’s about giving our guests space to relax, to really enjoy the island and the views. Every corner, every terrace, every detail is designed so it feels effortless, like it belongs here, just like our guests. We are proud and excited for people to experience KOIA this season.”
Alongside the new rooms comes a fresh culinary chapter: Oregano Gastro Taverna, a new restaurant that will give the traditional Greek
taverna a quietly contemporary edge. Overlooking a central pool with views towards Cape Agios Fokas, the setting will be as much a part of the experience as the menu, sunlit and framed by sea air and the scent of fresh herbs.
The kitchen will be led by Executive Chef Manolis Marangos, whose work at KOIA’s Thyme restaurant in 2025 quickly earned attention for its confident approach to Greek cooking.
Lunch will lean into the heart of traditional Greek dining with generous dishes and premium cuts of meat. Dinner moves in a more creative direction, reworking classic taverna flavours with seasonal ingredients from Kos and a lighter, more refined touch. The result will be something that feels recognisably Greek, where nature, gastronomy and wellbeing come together.
KOIA is a hideaway where guests can simply slow down and take in the quiet beauty of Kos. This season, KOIA invites guests to experience it for themselves.

Buda Beyond the Crowds
As spring approaches, Budapest enters one of its most appealing seasons for travel, and the perfect place to stay is Kimpton BEM Budapest, situated in a perfect, lesser-known location. Situated on the Buda side, moments from the Danube promenade, the hotel provides an alternative to the highertraffic districts of Pest; particularly valuable as visitor numbers begin to rise. It is ideal for travellers seeking cultural access and central connectivity, without being surrounded by crowds.
While Pest is known for its nightlife, iconic boulevards, and constant energy, Buda offers something increasingly rare in one of Europe’s most popular capitals - space to breathe. With its historic architecture, green spaces, and quieter pace, the Buda side has long been favoured by locals and in-the-know visitors. Kimpton BEM Budapest is ideally positioned at the heart of it all, with the legendary, retro cafe, Bambi, next door, which feels like a step back in time. Its interiors seem untouched since the 1960s, offering travellers a real glimpse into the best of Budapest.
From morning walks along the Danube to evenings spent in quieter wine bars tucked into side streets, the Kimpton BEM Budapest’s location encourages a slower pace, one that mirrors exactly how locals enjoy their city. This becomes even more valuable during the busier months, when crowds on the Pest side increase and popular sites draw long queues. Staying in Buda offers an immediate sense of escape: fewer tour groups, quieter streets, and most importantly - access to an abundance of local shops, cafes, artwork and the iconic Buda Castle.
Kimpton BEM Budapest sits just a 2-minute walk away from the Danube promenade, one of the most scenic stretches of the city. Here, guests can stroll along the riverbanks with uninterrupted views of Budapest’s skyline, especially beautiful in the early morning or golden evening light. The hotel is also well connected via public transport, with Tram Line 19, one of Budapest’s most iconic routes along the Danube.
The hotel’s Buda-side location also offers immediate access to Budapest’s thriving cultural scene. With museums and historic sites nearby, it’s a perfect location to explore the city’s artistic soul without needing to navigate the busiest tourist streets. Buda Castle is just a 30-minute walk away, while Fisherman’s Bastion can be reached in only 22 minutes, placing two of the city’s most iconic sights within walking distance.
Instead of souvenir shops and crowded restaurants, travellers will find quiet bakeries and independent design boutiques that rarely feature on typical itineraries, such as Hadik Shop, where travellers can purchase Herend Porcelan, Hungary’s finest porcelain maker since 1826, and it's only a 10-minute walk from the Buda Castle.
The Buda side also offers an excellent dining scene, from IDA Bistro, a modern Hungarian restaurant, to FELIX Kitchen & Bar, an ideal choice for those seeking fine dining. Travellers can also walk to one of the oldest thermal baths in Budapest, Irgalmasok Veli Bej Bath, located only 15 minutes away from the hotel.
Whether attending a classical concert or exploring contemporary exhibitions, Kimpton BEM Budapest allows guests to experience the city with ease while preserving a sense of calm and privacy.

Scotland’s Luxury Treehouses Bring
The Magic Faraway Tree to Life
With ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ set to enchant a new generation of children when it opened in cinemas last month, there has never been a better moment to swap the sofa for the treetops. The Treehouses at Lanrick and The Treehouses at Leckie - stylish offgrid luxury treetop hideaways set amongst enchanted woodland in the heart of Scotland - offer you the rare chance to genuinely live amongst the trees, just like the characters in Blyton’s timeless story.
In a world where time is increasingly dominated by devices, the return of ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ is a timely reminder of the power of imaginative play. Just as Blyton’s beloved characters discovered new fantastical lands at the top of the Faraway Tree, young and older guests at Lanrick and Leckie are invited to ditch the screens and dive into woodland adventures of their ownbuilding dens, spotting red squirrels, toasting marshmallows over fire pits, bathing under the stars and falling asleep beneath the rustle of leaves.
Coinciding with the film’s release, The Treehouses at Lanrick will unveil a magical new Fairy Garden - a place for children to let their imaginations run wild and immerse themselves in a world of
fairies, exploring enchanting gardens and hunting for tiny fairy doors hidden along the way.
Beyond exploring the private woodlands of Lanrick and Leckie, nearby Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park offer exceptional outdoor experiences. Whether mountain climbing, canoeing, wild swimming or fishing for trout and pike, the park is a rugged and unspoilt haven for those with children wanting to let off steam and explore the wilderness. While back at The Treehouses, parents can look forward to relaxing in the outdoor copper baths (and stunning woodland sauna at Lanrick) or indulging in alfresco Swedish massages to fully embrace slow woodland living.
