Since its founding in 1995, Women Printmakers of Austin has played a significant role in the local arena of printmakers. The organization is first and foremost an incubator for women (and men!) interested in developing skills and engaging in printmaking as a vehicle for creative expression. It, too, promotes community and serves as a conduit to expand the audience for fine art prints. As an organization, they have successfully nurtured artists and increased awareness of printmaking techniques. WPA has generously provided their resources in contributing to the organizing of PrintAustin. Chairpersons Elvia Perrin and Cathy Savage have worked tirelessly to bring the Austin art community together for the month long series of events celebrating printmaking.
