To offset our expenses we are making every effort to fundraise as much as possible. The more funds we are able to raise the less the amount we have to use from the EA coffers… so please donate, sponsor and support us as much as possible as we try to build on our funds in the next few months.

A big hello to all members as we enter into the beautiful season of Spring! We swing straight into more celebration this month with Father’s Day on the cards….but first I must thank August kitchen co-ordinator and cook Carol Richards also Joan Reincastle, Judy Koek, Jessie de Mello, Joyce Drysdale, Philomena Noronha, Lorna Rodrigues, Thelma Green, Marina Klaasen, Elaine Kang and Carole Richards for the mouth-watering food and cakes enjoyed by around 170 people at our August International Day Sunday lunch. Thank you also to our efficient ‘Head of Kitchen’ Derrick Holmes and his band of hardworking kitchen helpers. We were well entertained by the great music and songs of Tom & Sandy Wambeck. To add to the colour of a cheery afternoon, some people came dressed with beautiful National costumes. A big thank you everyone, you help to make our lunches FUN!!!

What’s happening in September? Well it’s Father’s Day of course and our September Sunday lunch will be dedicated to all fathers and grandfathers. We will have a band for our entertainment, excellent food, a special gift for our dads and maybe a couple of games for dads to enjoy! Make sure you bring dad along on the 8th of September lunch! Our games committee has also arranged a ‘Games Afternoon’ straight after lunch where you can play carrom, cards, chikee, bingo and maybe a few surprises as well. It will continue till 4pm. Please stay back and join us and I am sure we will have lots of fun.

I joyment so please join us. am sure we all learnt an interesting hint or two! Thanks Brian and the Community Services Finally, a very Happy Father’s Day to all our wonderful dads and granddads where ever team. they are! Remember don’t wait before it’s too Discussions into our Silver Jubilee celebrations late to tell your dad how much you love him! have become quite interesting as we begin to dabble into key issues. As I said previously, organising a celebration of this magnitude is inChad deed an expensive affair! We are keeping a tight rein on our expenses but don’t want to skimp too much on the night of our biggest celebration. 1

Tour of Royal Flying Doctor’s

As shown by the above photo 13 attended the tour to the Royal Flying Doctor’s (RFDS) base in Jandakot of Monday 19th August, and was enjoyed by one and all, after a very informative film and talk we were able to see the plane simulator cabin of the plane used by RFDS. RFDS is not only used for medical emergencies, transport and so on for country people, it is also used a lot by people in the metropolitan area, for those who need to be transported to the Eastern States for specialised surgery, organ transplants or even in if you have an accident on Rottnest Island. We as a country are very lucky to have a service such as RFDS, who need constant funds, please see their website on how to make a donation to such a worthy cause. On behalf of those attended thank-you to the Seniors’ Committee for arranging the tour. Carol
