As vehicles lined up in the back of the building near the drive-thru window, the boys with buckets, hoses, sponges, and towels in hand did a beautiful and quick job with excellent results. Customers were pleased and impressed with the respectful and courtesy service accompanied by the boys appreciative smiles. The fundraiser is held once a year in September and all proceeds go to assist the hockey team. As customers drove away in their freshly, sparkling washed vehicles, all were satisfied that teamwork and smiles along with parental support made the car wash fundraiser a success.

An inheritance tax isn’t just for the wealthy to worry about; many middle-class families who own their own homes are grappling with how an inheritance tax will affect them. Savvy financial planning can save your family from paying an inheritance tax on your estate upon your death, and there are steps you can legitimately take to avoid paying such taxes. Make a will stating where your assets will go, and gifting away part of your estate while you’re still alive are options. Consider putting your assets into a trust or taking out life insurance for the potential inheritance tax bill is another possibility. Remember too that anything left to charity will also be free of tax liability. QUOTE: “I don’t think of all the misery, but of all the beauty that remains.” -Anne Frank

Estate taxes and inheritance taxes are similar as both seek to minimize the transfer of wealth after death. Taxable property includes cash, securities, real estate, insurance, trusts, annuities, and business interests.
