What is the Summit Society?

The Summit Society was established to honor those who have taken the special step of including Adventure Unlimited in their long-term plans through a bequest provision, retirement plan assets, life insurance policy, life-income gift or other deferred giving arrangement.

Adventure Unlimited’s purpose is to provide recreational adventure, leadership, service, education and community activities that foster spiritual growth and healing in an environment where Christian Science is lived.

What Can I Do with My IRA’s Required Minimum Distributions?

A tax-free strategy for required withdrawals Here’s the situation: You’re 70½ or older and the IRS is requiring you to take minimum distributions from your IRA. You’re already giving to Adventure Unlimited or you’ve been planning to make a gift.

Scenario #1: You take the distribution and then make a gift to Adventure Unlimited. The distribution is taxed to you. You may be able to claim an offsetting charitable deduction for your gift if you itemize your deductions.

Scenario #2: BEST OPTION! You instruct your IRA administrator to make the distribution directly from your IRA to Adventure Unlimited. The distribution is not taxed.

You can give up to $100,000 annually through a Qualified Charitable Distribution, also called an IRA Charitable Rollover. Just ask your IRA administrator for the forms to complete the rollover, and soon you’ll be helping the many individuals who are blessed each year through Adventure Unlimited programs. Thank you!
