Steve Holser is very convincing when he talks about the lifetime value and importance of Adventure Unlimited.

He should know because he’s been involved in one way or another for almost 40 years—as a camper, staff member, associate Ranch Director, chapter volunteer, DiscoveryBound volunteer, National Alumni Board President, and member of the Board of Trustees.

“After many years of working to support A/U, I believe this organization is one of the most effective in supporting the growth and maturation of young Christian Scientists.”

Throughout his involvement with A/U, Steve has been a generous donor, and in

the last several years, a major contributor to the Adventure Unlimited Endowment Fund.

“My experiences at A/U were the most formative in my life. It was where Christian Science really became my own. Laurie and I are giving to the A/U Endowment Fund because we want to be sure that these opportunities for spiritual growth are as available to future generations as they were for us.”

Insuring Opportunities for Spiritual Growth Supporting programs for future generations of young Christian Scientists Here at Adventure Unlimited we are devoting most of our energy, time, and resources to provide programs which support the spiritual growth of young people today. Adventure Unlimited started as a camp for young Christian Scientists 56 years ago, and serving youth continues to be our central focus and

mission. Since that time, over 40,000 individuals have participated in our programs.

Recently we have devoted a good deal of thought, discussion and planning in developing a five-year strategic plan for

A/U. One of our primary objectives is to insure that these programs, which support opportunities for spiritual growth and where Christian Science is experienced in action, are available for future generations.

Each year we are most grateful for the support given by many generous donors in funding our annual operational expenses which enable us to provide programming for over 3,000 young people each year.

Our challenge comes in having to operate on the basis of a “one year at time” budget rather than being able to plan programs and expenditures on a multi-year cycle.

In order to continue to provide these programs for future generations, we have made the building of A/U’s Endowment Funds a top priority for these reasons: • Insures these programs will continue from one generation to the next; • Provides greater financial stability by supplementing Annual Fund fluctuations; and • Provides capability to address critical capital projects in a timely manner.

And another reason why endowment funds are vitally important in meeting our needs For the past three years we have hosted over 2,000 people each year at the Ranches in Buena Vista, Colorado, participating in programs that range from a weekend of Bible study to three days of cycling. We couldn’t be more pleased to have all these visitors—it’s why we exist. But because the Ranches are our most valuable asset we keep a watchful eye on the use of our “number one” resource.

Today we have year-round programs which substantially increase the demands on our water and septic systems. Many parts of these systems are “original equipment” installed over 50 years ago.

The estimated cost to replace and upgrade the water system and the septic and waste disposal systems for both Sky Valley and Round-Up is $440,000. We have already replaced and expanded the Sky Valley leach field, increasing its capacity to five times it previous performance.

Not only are we planning for the future but we are also keenly aware of the environmental impact of our increased population on this spectacular section of the Colorado high country.

Should I Give to an A/U Endowment Fund Rather than the Annual Fund?

We are grateful for your support no matter where or how you decide to contribute to Adventure Unlimited. A gift to the Annual Fund provides resources that can be used immediately to support programs activities and the staff that run them.

A contribution to one of A/U’s Endowment Funds provides a sustaining gift which will continue to support A/U for generations to come. You can contribute cash, securities, or other assets to an endowment fund.
