Introduce your students to the wonderful world of sharks in this hands-on interactive exhibit. Several small species of sharks can be touched and observed. Have your students use their math skills at shark scale, where they can compare their weight with the weights of various sharks.

shipwrecked!

Your students will discover hundreds of fish and invertebrates in a series of underwater habitats. This is a great location for exploring adaptations and observing behaviors. You will find seahorses hiding in a grassbed, angelfish swimming on a reef, moray eels lurking in a shipwreck and spiny lobsters peeking from rocky crevices.

Hidden deep within the ocean are some of the strangest animals imaginable. You will find a collection of these captivating creatures in Jules Verne Gallery. Your students will be able to closely observe moon jellies and sea dragons. They will also have a chance to investigate a giant Pacific octopus, which many scientists claim to be the smartest animal without bones. Challenge your students to imagine what other strange creatures may be lurking in the deep ocean, yet to be discovered.

shark realm / shark tunnel gills grotto

Gill’s Grotto, located inside KidZone, includes three touch exhibits where your students will examine a variety of invertebrates found in warm-water coral reefs. Species include Atlantic horseshoe crab, American lobster, scarlet cleaner shrimp and the violet sea apple.

As your students enter our suspended 40-foot Shark Tunnel, they will be immersed in the beauty of these majestic predators. This is the perfect opportunity to examine their anatomy, explore the many myths about sharks, appreciate their place in the food chain as an apex predator and realize the impact humans are having on their survival.
