VENUES HIGHLIGHTS - ExCeL London

THE EXCEL LEGACY PROGRAMME ExCeL is part of the world’s largest sustainability initiative, UN Global Compact and is certified to both ISO14001 and ISO20121 (the environmental standard for the events industry). The CSP (Corporate Social Purpose) strategy focuses on four key areas: reducing waste, increasing energy efficiency, delivering more sustainable food choices and supporting our local community. Initiatives include:

• Using LED eco-friendly lighting which has resulted in an overall reduction in energy consumption of 22%.

• Zero waste to landfill - over half of ExCeL’s waste is recycled; the rest is used to create renewable energy.

• ExCeL London Hospitality (ELH) no longer

promote red meat, as they strive to reduce red meat consumption by 50% by the end of 2020. 25% of menus are already plant-based, vegan or vegetarian.

• ExCeL’s waterless urinals save over 16 million litres of water every year; equivalent to over 328 million litres of water, since ExCeL opened in 2000.

• Used vegetable oil is converted to biofuel and Toast beer is available, which uses waste bread from sandwiches ordered onsite as its key ingredient.
