The UHP curriculum serves as a complement to your major, providing flexibility so that you have time to make the most of your college experience.
SERVICE Develop as a scholar-citizen as you engage in meaningful service with community partners. You will be exposed to a wide variety of service opportunities throughout your UHP experience that will expand your concept of citizenship and prepare you to invest in and act as an agent of change in your community.

As a high-achieving entering freshman interested in UHP, you may be eligible to apply for these top scholarships: Albert, Crown, and Martin for Incoming Freshmen. Applying for any of these in the Niner Scholars Portal by December 1, 2017 is also your application to UHP.

ALBERT ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS PROGRAM albertscholars.uncc.edu • $19,000 annually, renewable • Engineering majors • $6,000 professional development stipend for summer research or internship • Engineering Leadership Academy

MARTIN SCHOLARS PROGRAM martinscholars.uncc.edu • Must be Pell-eligible with zero expected family contribution • Average $3,000 per semester, based on unmet financial need • $3,000 stipend for study abroad or an internship • Open to any major • Support of a Martin faculty mentor
COMMUNITY Find your home away from home. Through living in the honors residence hall, meeting with your peer mentor, and attending events such as the annual UHP Venture Adventure orientation program, you will make valuable connections and lasting friendships before ever stepping foot in the classroom.
Be part of a small, scholarly community within the setting of a large, urban research university. Honors professors, staff, and other UHP students will take the time to get to know you and invest in your academic and personal growth. You can always count on someone in UHP to support, challenge, and inspire you.
ADVENTURE Break out of your comfort zone and have new adventures. Explore another culture by studying abroad for a week, a summer, or a full semester. Or, take advantage of Honors College funding for travel to give a presentation at national and international conferences. You will find many ways to travel the world during your time in UHP.
RESEARCH Gain professional development in your field by choosing to pursue a research project with a faculty member. Many honors students conduct and present their research on campus. You may also complete a research project through a department or college honors program, thereby graduating with both University Honors and honors within your major.
One of the greatest advantages to studying in fastgrowing Charlotte is unparalleled access to internship opportunities. You will be able to apply lessons learned in the classroom as you investigate real world problems and solutions. When you start interviewing and graduate, you will have many experiences to share.
ADVISING YOUR FUTURE Whether you want to enter a profession, get into medical school, or attend graduate school, honors students at UNC Charlotte have access to specialized advising that includes preparation for health professions and highly competitive national awards and scholarships.
APPLICATION PROCESS All entering freshmen, as well as new transfers and continuing students who expect to be at UNC Charlotte for three years to complete their degree program, are invited to apply to the University Honors Program and the merit scholarships for which they are eligible.
