KryKey Internet Radio Station Tutorial

Thanks for Choosing KryKey Internet Radio to Broadcast to the World at 320K Streaming Quality! This is your “How to Use Your Personal Internet Radio Station”, and it is a great help with information and screen shots of the Studio and related areas to help you get the best out of your PRS. Please read this as it has most of what you need to know in it. Instructional videos are also on our YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/KryKeyInternetRadio Plus (0) VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE CHECK IN THE MAIN MUSIC LIBRARY BEFORE YOU UPLOADING MUSIC AS THE SONG MAY BE THERE; THE MUSIC LIBRARY IS FOR MUSIC ONLY – WE WILL DELETE ANYTHING ELSE; ONLY PROMOS/DJ DROPS/JUNGLES ARE TO GO IN PROMO LIBRARY; ONLY PODCASTS IN PODCAST LIBRARY; DON’T USE CHROME BROWSER OR SAFARI DON’T SHARE SONGS UNLESS THE TAGS ARE CORRECT – IT MAKES IT BAD FOR EVERYONE ELSE 1) Radio Station Name: this can be changed anytime in the Administration section of the Studio, as can the email address, so no need to create a new radio station just to have a new name. 2) Uploading Songs: it is VERY IMPORTANT that you have the SONG NAME, ARTIST, ALBUM, YEAR and GENRE tags filled in for each song as these are required for several reasons and one most important one is if a listener is searching for a song, artist, etc these are the tags that are used and they won't be able to find your radio station. A FREE program to do this can be downloaded at http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html 3) Upload Limits: The current maximum file size of a song is 12Mb and only in MP3 format. As we only stream at 320Kbps, the songs should be converted to this Bitrate and then the file size will be under the 12Mb for 98% of all songs. For those who need to upload a larger size, we offer a ‘File Size Option’ (FSO) which will be covered by a subscribed monthly fee. Podcasts are currently limited to 120Mb each. Pay for one month or get a great discount by paying for 12 months. A FREE program to recode can be downloaded at http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/free-dvd-video-softwaredownload.htm 4) Boosting Your Listener Numbers: just a warning that we have a program running that looks at listener numbers and if they are artificially boosted your radio station will be deactivated. 5) Terms of Service: Please read the Terms of Service (select ‘legal’ link at the bottom of the KryKey.com main page Finally, we are working on the next version (3.0) and it will have more features and changes and we will be launching it sometime in 2012.

Please continue to learn “How to Use Your Personal Internet Radio Station” . . . . . .

This is where you add: music, promos, news, adverts, and Podcasts to a Playlist. You can also talk "live" to your listeners. Invitations to other users (as DJ’s), and reports on your PRS' statistics are also managed here. In this tutorial we will help you master the basics of your PRS Studio, and explain all the features available to you. As we add new features this tutorial will be updated! Even though it looks a bit complicated when you first sign in, it is very easy to use and operate! Within a few minutes you will be up-and-running and broadcasting your music and content to listeners all over the Internet! Tutorials are also on You Tube (search for KryKey Web Radio) and our Facebook Fan Page. So let’s get started! KryKey Internet Radio Station Tutorial As you can see in the screen shot, the new Studio is made up of four distinct areas. The first navigation area (shown below) is called the “Studio Button Strip” (SBS). The SBS also has nine buttons..

These 9 buttons are: 1. Sound Library – the Sound Library contains all the music, Podcasts, Promos, Adverts and News that you have uploaded. It also contains the music library with all files that have been shared by other PRS-operators. This is called the KryKey Music Library (KML) [click here for more details] 2. Upload Songs – this is where you upload songs (only songs are to be uploaded only to this library) into your “PRS Music Library” (SML) [click here for more details] 3. Playlists – Create a Playlist, edit a Playlist or delete a Playlist. You can have multiple Playlists. Playlists have the option of being ‘shared’ so other PRS can play it. (PLL) [click here for more details] 4. Podcast – Upload your Podcasts to your “Studio Podcast Library” (PCL) [click here for more details] 5. Promos – Upload your Promos to your “Studio Promotions Library” (PL) [click here for more details] 6. This function is only available through Studio One (Owner), because the DJs use Studio Two. Studio Two does not have this button. [click here for more details] 9. Logout – Logout of your Studio and you will be taken to your PRS The second navigation area only has four buttons, but has nine displays and a volume control as you can see in the screen shot below.

The second navigation area has four buttons, nine displays, and a volume control (as you can see in the screen shot below): 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

KryKey Internet Radio Station Tutorial 9. Last Track: this is colored red as this track (previous) has now stopped 10. Now Playing: this is colored green and displays the current track playing Next Track – colored yellow to warn you what track is next The third navigation area is what is called the Play/Schedule Area (PSA) and this area as you can see in the screen shot below is the “hub’ of the Studio as this is where it all happens.

The PSA has three sections: 1. Play & Schedule (PSA) – this is where you “drag n drop” songs, Playlists, adverts, promos, podcast, sound effects, and news. You can also schedule them by clicking on the Time/Date column to the left of the name. You can set a date and time when to play. The blue colored section tells you this is a Playlist. 2. Content – these 7 tabs which are colored for easy identification slide out from the right. To close any of them just click the right hand side which is colored red. Sound Library has the songs from your Studio Music Library (SML) and the KML (KryKey Music Library) Playlists has the Playlists you have created and shared Playlists from other PRS Podcast are in here that you have uploaded and shared Podcasts from other PRS Promos help in letting your listeners know who you are and they are in here Adverts that you have uploaded are in here Effects are what we have added in here, and more will be added monthly News that you have created and uploaded will be in here – in the future PRS can share News 3. Communication – click this and it slides up from the bottom and you will see to areas in here, (1) chat window and (2) scrolling text window. Both have different functions, the first one is used to communicate between the Studio and you PRS page with you listeners. It is a basic chat system which will let you clear the history and also change the name of the person in the Studio using the chat. The second one is for creating scrolling text messages with a maximum 140 characters which is seen on your PRS page. You can log into your Twitter account & Facebook and send these messages to them (Facebook goes on your wall). * all technologies, concepts, designs on KryKey Internet Radio are copyright (c) 2006-2012and are covered under US and EU law * 4 | Page

KryKey Internet Radio Station Tutorial The fourth navigation area we haven’t named, in fact we just call it the “bottom of the Studio”  But if you have a better name for it, please send it to us. So this area has eight displays and four buttons. The screen shot below is of this navigation area. Moving left to right the first display is ‘when the next track starts’, then we have a ‘progress bar’ for the current track being played, what is remaining of the current Playlist, and the ‘total for hour’. The next level down the two displays that are first are for the current track, how much has been played and how much is left to be played.

1. Speaker – turns the speaker in the Studio on and off 2. Calls – a listener can call you from the PRS page. Once this call is started both you and the listeners can be heard over the air. You will know someone is calling you by a number appearing on the button 3. Clear List – if you want to remove anything from the Play & Schedule section, just click on it and then click this button. Want to get rid of everything? Just click the button without any selection. We then have two more displays which are how long the PRS has been broadcasting and when the next scheduled Playlist or song is going to be played. You can listen to our KryKey Internet Radio Demo radio station at http://www.krykey.com/Radio/PRSPage.aspx?id=151

THE END (sort off) That was an overview of what was in the Studio. For some of you that will be enough. For some not so, and for others more in depth information is required later. Then you can finish now and get to playing with your new Studio and PRS, or you can keep reading.

But Wait There’s More! The next pages will give you more detail on how to use the Studio.

SOUND LIBRARY The Sound Library is where all your content is. There are eight (8) sections in the Sound Library – PRS Music Library, KryKey Music Library, Podcasts, Promos, Adverts, News, Sound Effects and Playlists. PRS Music Library (SML) All the music you have uploaded and added from KML is in here. Screen shot below displaying this section of the Sound Library. Very Important: Please do not upload anything but songs into this library. There is a library for Promos, podcasts, adverts and news. When you go to upload/add music to this library, if you get a message that it is already in the KML, this means that someone has already uploaded the song and you don’t have to. All you need to do is go to the KryKey Music Library (KML) and find the song in there by using the search and then add it to your library (see KML after this section).

KryKey Internet Radio Station Tutorial MP3 Tags: Please make sure the ‘tags’ on the songs are correct – song name, album, year, genre, artist – as these are used by people who come to KryKey Internet Radio to find a radio station that is playing the music they wish to hear. The correct tags help you by helping others find your radio station. If you don’t want others to play the song you upload, then make sure the “share” is not selected. For example if I was looking for the Artist Meatloaf and singing Bat Out Of Hell, if the song is correctly tagged and is playing on your radio station then the search results would display your radio station. Also we are about to add a ‘buy now’ button to the Player and a listener can purchase the song playing and the radio station will take a percentage of the sale, but this can only happen if the tags are correct. A FREE program to do this can be downloaded at http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html Upload Limits: The current maximum file size of a song is 12Mb and only in MP3 format. As we only stream at 192Kbps, the songs should be converted to this Bitrate (a free MP3 convertor can be downloaded at http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/freedvd-video-software-download.htm) and then the file size will be under the 12Mb for 98% of all songs. For those who need to upload a larger size, we offer a ‘File Size Option’ (FSO) which will be covered by a subscribed monthly fee. Podcasts are currently limited to 10Mb each. The FSO will also cover large Podcast file sizes. FSO upload limit will be 80Mb per file Song or Podcast. Pay for one month or get a great discount by paying for 12 months. Share: it’s nice to share songs so other radio stations can also play them, BUT, only share if it isn’t already in the KML and the tags are perfectly correct – please think of others when you do this KryKey Music Library (KML) is next . . . .

You can search for songs and when you find the one you want, you click the ADD button and then the song is added to your PRS Music Library to be used as required. We recommend you look in here for a song you want to play BEFORE you upload it as it will save you time and space on our servers.
