2010-11 Recap

A new era was started in Judson University athletics as the men’s lacrosse team stepped on the field in 2011. It was the first time that a contact sport was on the campus at Judson. The team was lead by head coach A.J. Collier who has a rich background in the Chicagoland area in lacrosse. He started two high school programs, played collegiately at Northern Illinois University on their club team, and has helped out the professional teams in Chicago. Judson is a part of the MCLA (Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association) and played in the GRLC (Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference) in Division II.

(Iowa), 18-1, fashion in their third home match of the year. In the final three matches, Judson fell by three or less goals and lost the final two matches in the final period. Josh Elmore led the team with 15 goals while Kyle Babbe had 14 goals. Elmore also led the team in assists (17) and points (32) while Jeff Lee had 72 ground balls.

History was made on April 9th when Judson University won their first-ever lacrosse match, 18-1, over Cornell College (Iowa). Tim Casson led the team with five goals while Jeff Lee, Jeff Acton, Josh Markiewicz, and Josh Elmore all had two goals. Kyle Babbe put in three goals and two assists for five points while Elmore led the team with five assists and seven points. Casson also added seven points. Judson had a 14-0 lead at the half and did not allow a goal until late in the fourth period. Steve Lueje had three saves in goal.

Judson played their first lacrosse match on Friday, March 4th, in Lisle, Ill., against Taylor University. They fell to the Trojans, 11-6, but played well for their first-ever match. Judson then hosted nationally ranked Hope College on Saturday, April 2, in In their first season, Judson went 1-9 but played their first-ever home match, falling, 18-5. THe GRLC (Conference) competively with almost every team. Judson’s first Playing three conference games in the GRLC, program win came on Saturday, April 9, vs. Cornell Judson went 0-3 vs. Wheaton College, St. Louis University, and DePaul. Judson played St. Louis and Wheaton in close matches losing 15-11 and 13-10. Judson also played two nationally ranked teams out of the GLRC in Missouri Baptist and Hope College.
