Haskovo is situated in the south - east of Bulgaria on the road connecting the West and the East. It is an ancient town of a thousand-year-long history.
Haskovo is located between Rodopi and Stara mountains and enjoys a pleasant climate. The population is about 80 000 people.
The highest statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Child in the world It has been entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
The monument is 14 m high and stands on a base of 17m. A small church was built in its foundation in 2004.
The Holy Mother of God Church is the biggest in the town.
